Chapter 3: Meeting Day

(Seraphina POV)

“Where were you last night?” My head whipped towards the person who just entered with a frown on his face.

“Oh, really, Leo. I was about to ask the same question,” I answered, and he arched his brow in a questioning manner.

“What do you mean by that, Sera? Answer my question first,” He demanded and stood up from my chair.

“Where were you when someone tried to dr*g me last night?” I asked, and his eyes widened like he didn’t expect me to say something like this.

“What??? When and how???” His words made my blood boil, and I crossed my arms on my chest before looking at his face… like really looking at his face. He was a handsome man with 6’1 height and a normal build like alphas, all thanks to his alpha genes, but he didn’t have anything extraordinary. Although his father started this company years ago and made a good reputation, he wasn’t doing anything to make a good profit out of it.

Instead, he was really struggling to bag a contract when I joined the company. I was desperate to seek the approval and validation of the pack, so I started helping him progress with all the difficult contracts, and now… he started feeling like he can handle everything without me.

“How are you feeling now?” His concerned tone really rubbed me the wrong way.

“So, you are telling me that you didn’t try to find out about me after ending your call last night?” I asked in a plain tone. I wasn’t in the mood to accept any bullh*t, and he could already sense it.

“I-i…ummm… after the call, I quickly left the hotel. I thought you needed some time to think about everything, so I don’t want to stress you out,” He answered.

“Wow! So, you didn’t even turn and try to say goodbye to me or ever make sure I got home safe last night, right?” I asked, and a bit of guilt appeared in his eyes, but I didn’t give it a flying f*ck. He left me when I needed him the most, and now, I don’t want to stick myself with a man who wasn’t worthy of my attention at all.

“I am sorry, My Love. I really am, and I am an A-hole for leaving you last night like this, but please tell me Is everything alright? Who dares to dr*g you? I swear, I will not let this matter slide. I will investigate the person behind this and punish him by myself. No one can dare to mess with Alpha Leonardo Castelli’s mate,” He said, and I took a deep breath and nodded.

I have already told myself that ‘I am done with this sh*t’ and he wasn’t worthy of my attention and hard work, and for today’s contract… We are going to lose it by a great margin. Because I want to remind him what he truly is and where his company will stand without my help and effort.

“F*ck the Romano brothers and f*ck Leonardo Castelli too. I will not allow anyone to insult me or belittle me in any way possible,” I thought and took a seat. He opened his mouth to say something, but then decided otherwise.

The meeting started great, and he started quoting the price with all the details which I worked on with him in the past month, and he didn’t notice the decimal point, which I moved just a bit. When he quoted the price, everyone got shocked, and he took it positively because my intelligence and expertise made him smug over the years.

“Umm… Thanks for your offer, Alpha Leonardo, but we…” Before the host could say anything Romano brothers entered the room, and everyone could feel their powerful aura, including me, but I just ignored it.

“We apologize for our tardiness, but there was something important to handle which took most of our time.” I blinked a few times to repeat their words in my mind. I have never seen anyone apologize for their tardiness like this. They were really something else, but everyone knew better than to mess with these four powerful monsters. But two of them were missing in today’s meeting. I looked at the door, but there wasn’t any sign of their arrival.

A smirk appeared on Caine’s face when he noticed my eye movement, and I averted my eyes before he could say anything about last night.

“Blaze and Aiden are still busy, so it will be only the two of us. Please continue the meeting, Gentlemen.” The person quickly started giving them all the details and the prices quoted by the other companies, including ours. But the moment he told them our price, Dominic’s narrowed, and he started staring at my face like he was trying to find the answer to some questions.

“Did he know I am behind this wrong price? Nope! Not a chance. My work is efficient, and I don’t care about his suspicion. He coud of and f*ck himself,” I thought and rolled my eyes before looking at his face. It was like a silent beetle of stares between us. I don’t know if anyone noticed it, but none of them dared to mention it in front of us.

His grip tightened around the ballpoint he was holding, and I felt like he knew what was going on in my mind. The host cleared his throat, and then they quoted their price. Aside from all our animosity, I appreciated their keen eye and sharp intelligence.

“Thank you so much for all the great prices and offers, but after careful consideration, we are going to hand over this construction site contract of Dream Pearl Hotel and Dream Pearl Mega mall to the Romano group of industries,” he announced.

The smug smile vanished from Leonardo’s face like he wasn’t expecting all this at all. He turned to look at my face with a shocked expression and blaming eyes.

“What the actual hell, Sera?” He hissed in anger, and I took a deep breath to control my answer at his blaming tone.

“What? It’s business, Leo. It was just a contract. Don’t worry, we will work hard on the next one and will secure it. Maybe we overlooked some small details this time. I will discuss it with the finance team.” I answered it and got up to pick my file when almost everyone left the room one by one. They were already chasing the next contract, I guess.

“I am asking you something, Seraphina!!! How the hell did it happen?” His tone was filled with anger and blame. He grabbed my wrist so hard that red marksstarted appearing on my skin.

“Leave me at once, Leo. I am not one of your junior employees, and I will not tolerate any disrespect at all.” I hissed in anger, but his grip tightened.

“I don’t give a f*ck about your sassy attitude. You failed this contract purposely, right?” He asked, and I gritted my teeth in anger.

“A capable boss always takes responsibility for his decisions. You happily took the credit for all the past wins, so why is it so hard for you to accept one defeat? It’s the business world, and everyone wants to bag big contracts. If we lost one, then what? We will win the next one… It is not the end of the world.” I answered in an angry tone, matching his energy. His eyes turned red, and I refused to cower in fear.

“Fine!!! Do whatever you want,” he said and stormed off the building without even checking on me again.

“Pathetic,” I mumbled under my breath when Caine and Dominic entered in the room with solemn expressions. I looked towards them like I was too tired to argue with them.

“Are you okay?” Dominic asked in a tender tone, and I was surprised for a moment because I didn’t expect this tenderness from my enemy alphas.

“I am fine,” I answered in a firm tone when Caine locked the meeting room behind him.

“What do you think you are doing?” I asked and inhaled a sharp breath to control my emotions, but it was a big mistake. Their powerful alpha pheromones messed with my heat hormones. I didn’t experience the full heat last night, so I took a handful of suppressants this morning to act normal, but now, they were messing with my system. Wetness rushed towards my core, and I clamped my thighs shut, but both of them noticed it.

“What happened, Love? Are you not feeling well?” He asked in a raw and deep tone. I stepped back and gulped hard. I have to stay away from them otherwise… nope, I have full control of my mind, body, and emotions. I reminded myself.

“Stay where you are, Dom,” I answered, and his eyes darkened

“Oh, really? This is not what you were saying last night, Sweetheart,” My head whipped towards Caine, who was standing just a few inches away from me. Just one step and my back will press against his hard abdomen. Flashes of last night started coming to my mind, and my cheeks started turning red.

“Last night was a mistake. Let’s forget it and…” Before I could utter another word, Dominic covered the distance between us in two strides and stared into my eyes.

“A mistake? No, Love. It wasn’t a mistake, and if you are trying to forget it and continue with your life, then too bad for you. Because we decided to keep, and we will remind you again and again who this pretty body belongs to,” He whispered the last part in my ear, and my body reacted like it wasn’t in my control at all. His lips brushed against my ear, and a shiver of pleasure ran down my spine.

“F*cking heat hormones,” I cursed in my head when Caine’s arm snuck around my waist, and he left an open kiss on the side of my neck. An involuntary moan escaped my lips, and it was like an invitation for Dominic. He crushed my lips in his raw, possessive kiss like he wanted to s*ck my soul out of my body.

I put my hands on his chest to push him away, but I wasn’t ready to let go of him like I was the oxygen he wanted to breathe in.
