Stone’s Hearts

Chapter 5

Jaden, Blake, and Derek the scorching eyes guy. All sit in the living room. Blake and I are sitting on a large love seat. Jaden and Derek on the larger part of the couch across from us.

“Alright so obviously there is a lot to be said here and this isn’t any situation we want to take lightly.” Derek said. 

Breaking the silence and looking around the room at all of us. 

“Yes you’re right Derek. Maybe I went about this a little too lightly.. and I uh-“  looking at Derek who raised his brows. “I apologize Blake.” Jaden said.

You can tell he is the type of guy who probably never apologizes and gets away with it. Jaden turns his attention from Blake to me and adds.

“Kaycee I know you probably have endless questions on how Blake is already here. I will answer those questions as soon as we get all this figured out.” All the attention now on me I blush. 

“Thank you, I appreciate that. Also thank you for brining him here.” I said trying to show I am strong but I really want to run and hug him to show my thanks. Though just touching him in general doesn’t sound too bad. 

“Don’t mention it.” Jaden said.

His voice is deep and demanding; but his eyes are soft and that warms me inside. 

Jaden went on explaining to Blake everything he explained to me at the gas station yesterday. Yesterday, that seems like it was so long ago. I can tell from Blake’s face that he is starting to open up to the whole idea. I feel relieved, I hope he agrees to stay here. Though it does seem too good to be true. We deserve this! Something new, a fresh start. We have to try. 

“Kaycee, I need to talk to them. Alone. For a minute.” Blake says to me. 

What no! I want to know everything they have to say. As if knowing I would protest Jaden gives me a stern look and shakes his head as if telling me not to argue about it. Deciding he is right, I will do what it takes if it means trying out staying here; so I get up and head for the kitchen. Not before locking eyes with Derek, who hasn’t taken his eyes off me.

Jaden

How can I convince him I am not trying to use his sister. This guy is so stubborn. I get he wants to protect his sister, but damn I am tired of trying to convince him. This kid needs to get laid. He’s 22 and probably still a virgin. No wonder he’s so worked up. Regardless I have to be patient I really want Kaycee working for me. Her sweet beautiful face and goddess of a body is sure to turn heads at all my work events; I am looking forward to it. Not that I am doing this all for me. These poor guys sound like they’ve been through hell and back with their dad. Not wanting to remember that horrid place we got Blake from this morning. I push it aside and focus on the man in front of me, Blake.

“Look I don’t have much of a choice here. It’s obvious she wants to stay here, she is convinced that you guys are good.” He pauses, looking down at his hands. “I just want to make her happy. Give her a life she deserves. She’s been through so f*****g much. s**t you really don’t want to think about. I’ve protected her from most of it and I’ll continue to protect her. She’s 19 years old! She doesn't need a boyfriend or someone to play with her emotions.” 

He looked at Derek when he said that, but Derek knows better. We swore long ago as a “brother pack” we called it. We would never steal, talk, flirt, blah, blah all that stuff with any girl we were interested in. Even though Derek and I have had our fair share of women, Derek even more so than me. In our 18 years of friendship we’ve never once broke it.

"She needs a normal teenage life.” Blake laid it all out.

 He is f*****g right, it's kind of disappointing. Hooking up with Kaycee wasn’t my original plan, the more I came around her our connection was sending sparks through my body. I am sure it's just physical, once I’ve had my fill a few times it would pass. Even though I’ve never felt that spark before; it didn’t mean anything. Besides Blake is right she deserves to be a teen, she is off limits. I can’t say I won’t enjoy her company to my work functions they are usually pretty boring. Plus she seems like a cool person thus far, I would look forward to getting to know her more if they stay.  

“We will try this out temporarily. If you can actually find me a place in your company I’ll work my ass off. But none of that will matter if one of you lays a hand on my sister. I’ll go to jail for her.” Blake said almost grinding his teeth in anger at the thought of us touching his sister. 

“We won’t touch her. We are just trying to help you guys more than anything. Let this be a fresh start for you guys.” I said. Trying to reassure him. 

Blake shakes his head as if he is in disbelief of what he is about to say.

“Okay, we will stay temporarily. See how things go.”

Bingo! Mission accomplished.
