A knight in Herald’s opinion didn’t spend his time making love and lounging in lover’s aftermath for hours. It was his duty to always be ready for a fight. He had given her this lecture during the very beginning of their marriage when she asked him to come back to bed. It had really all been downhill from there.
His mother raved about the fact he was a knight for hours. She would coo about how brave he was fighting dragons and leading the other knights. She would go on and on about how he earned everyone’s respect, how all he ever wanted was to be a knight, and how proud she was of him. Every once in a while Eleanor could swear her mother in-law would add a slick comment about how she was not good enough for her son. She always felt completely inadequate and very uncomfortable around her.
