“The guest room,” John said when Parker questioned the stop with a raised eyebrow. “Can we stay down here instead?” “I…guess so?” Parker touched John’s cheek, frowning. “Is something wrong?” John laughed and shook his head. “No? Yes? I just…William…There are some things I don’t think he needs to hear.” A smile broke across Parker’s face. “Why would William—” Parker stopped himself and held up a palm in surrender. “Doesn’t matter. The guest room is fine. I don’t care where we are.” He set his hand on John’s shoulder and drew John closer. “As long as you’re with me.” John held back the smart-assed side of him that wanted to remind Parker it would be so much easier for Parker to walk out afterwards. Or that Parker wouldn’t have to come up with a clever reason why John should leave and go
