Chapter 6: A Taste of Surprise
The aroma of adobo hung heavy in the air, a complex blend of savory, sweet, and tangy notes. Marcus watched as Celestia stared at the plated dish, her expression a mixture of awe and disbelief.
"So," Marcus said, breaking the silence, "are you going to try it, or just admire my handiwork?" He was trying to sound confident, but inside, he was a bundle of nerves. He hoped she liked it. He really hoped she liked it. This was important.
Celestia blinked, tearing her gaze away from the perfectly arranged chicken and vegetables. "It looks... incredible," she admitted, her voice soft. "Sorry i did not help at all....I'm not good at cooking."
Marcus raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. Only a fool enters BSHM that doesn't know how to cook, he thought wryly. He didn't truly believe that, though. She probably had some skill... right? He just couldn't imagine someone in this course being a complete disaster in the kitchen.
Celestia's eyes widened slightly at his words, and Marcus felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him.
Aira and Mika, who had been watching from their station across the room, exchanged knowing glances. They knew Celestia's culinary challenged. They'd seen the kitchen mishaps, the smoke signals, and the near-fire incidents. This was new territory.
"Do you know Marcus Sebastian?" Mika asked Aira, her voice low and curious.
Aira shrugged. "Barely. He's the quiet guy from the back, right? Celestia's never talked about him."
"Well, she's talking to him now," Mika pointed out, her eyes fixed on the pair. "And he's letting her taste it. His food."
Back at their station, time was running out. Chef Ramirez was beginning to circle the room, clipboard in hand, his expression serious and focused. He stopped at Aira and Mika's station first. He took a small taste, his eyes closing briefly as he savored the flavor.
"Not bad, ladies," he said, nodding in approval. "The balance is decent, and the presentation is clean. Well done."
He moved on, sampling the creations of the other groups, offering critiques and compliments. He made his way through the room, his presence creating a buzz of nervous anticipation. Finally, he arrived at Marcus and Celestia's station.
Chef Ramirez's eyes widened slightly as he looked at the plated adobo. He picked up his spoon, took a small portion, and brought it to his lips. A moment of silence stretched, thick with anticipation. Then, his face transformed. His eyes widened in surprise, a genuine smile spreading across his face.
"Great," he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "This is... exceptional! The aroma alone is intoxicating, but the taste... the taste is perfectly balanced, the chicken is tender, and the sauce is rich and complex. This is restaurant-quality!" He looked genuinely surprised.
A murmur of surprise rippled through the classroom. Students exchanged glances, their eyebrows raised in disbelief. Many of them had assumed that Celestia, with her seemingly perfect image, wouldn't be the one with the culinary talent.
"I didn't know Celestia could cook like that," someone whispered.
"Seriously!?" another replied, "I thought she was all about... you know..." she gestured vaguely with her hands, implying Celestia's socialite status.
The whispers continued, a mix of admiration and disbelief. They couldn't reconcile the Celestia they thought they knew with the creator of this amazing dish.
Celestia, for her part, was still processing the taste of the adobo. Her eyes sparkled with genuine surprise.
