The man said to be the mean village head stood still right before Yeomso’s cell. His eyes fixated on The Capricorn, while keeping his both hands at his sides. He was most probably scanning Yeomso wholly, cautiously and angrily. Judging physically, Yeomso fundamentally not a Human even though his features were the altered version of a Human’s. The most distinct difference was the horns on his head. His pale coloured skin was almost like an anaemic Human, and his body stature was even similar to common body builder around the world.
The pair of horns troubled the village head a little too much. He chirped and furrowed. “Those horns, are they real?”
No one was capable to enlighten him, even Hideo. But he automatically figured it out – This village head was despising him. He could obviously tell from the way the village head glared pessimistically at him.
“You may touch them if you want, young Human,” Yeomso knowingly mocked the sarcastic Human. “They won’t do any harm, unless I start it first.”
The village head breathed in displeasure. He hated how Yeomso took him lightly. “Tell me. What’s the point of you coming here?”
“I want to learn how to read since it’s my first time coming to The Earth. There’s a paper I should translate, but I can’t due to my inability,” Yeomso undoubtedly replied. “Plus, we’ve walked relatively far, so I think we do need a place to rest ourselves.”
“So you weren’t alone yesterday?” the village head crossed his arms at his chest.
Yeomso nodded and shrugged. “I came here with my sons, but I have no idea where they are now.”
“The mentioned kids are in other cells, Mister Stawarski,” one of the guards notified the village head. “But we isolate them far from this prisoner, so that they won’t get caught.”
The village head, named Stawarski, glimpsed at the guard for a few seconds before shifting back to the blinking Yeomso. “You’re doing great job. Well done, dear guards!”
Stawarski started clapping hands. The most rear guards joined the clapping, getting the atmosphere awkwardly merrier. Yeomso rolled his eyes to no one, slightly feeling nauseous over the obviously faked furtherance by the guard. Despite the full-faced masks they wore, the sluggish movement and the dull enthusiasm displayed how toxic their relationship to Stawarski. It was possible that Stawarski noticed the dullness, but he believably chose to abandon the fact.
“My guards have saved the kids you wanted to eat, demon,” Stawarski clenched his teeth while triggering the anger of Yeomso. “You must be hungry for now, eh?”
“I am hungry. But I don’t think I could eat those kids. They are good kids after all,” Yeomso chirped in disgust. He has already had the urge to slap this overly confident village head. “When will you release me?”
“Not that simple, demon.”
In a blink, Stawarski fetched one of the guards’ spear and thrust the sharp end in between the jail bars. Hopefully it would reach Yeomso, at least by the throat, but Yeomso did well by moving away from the bars and leaning against the back wall while talking. Hideo watched the scene while shivering. There was an overwhelming sensation erupting from within his stomach.
“You have no idea how real Demon look like, young Human,” Yeomso kept his hands behind him, veiling the gestures he performed to transform himself into the ultimate Capricorn power.
There was a limit in everything, including one’s forbearance. Yeomso’s patience was the second shortest after The Scorpio among The Zodiacs, but he could praise himself for holding up his irritability for quite a long time, at least to him. He has promised himself to not easily get incensed whatever the trial might be. However, this Stawarski man has really crossed the line.
“What else you can do, demon?” Stawarski jeered at the enraged Yeomso. “This cell is enveloped with invisible charms you won’t be able to erase. You can’t get away from this cell!” His guffaw lingered across the corridor. “The kids are safe in our care, you don’t have to worry.”
“They’re in your care? I just can’t believe they are in a kind like you. Despicable.”
That surely infuriated Stawarski to the point he smashed the spear to the bars. Amazingly the spear snapped into two, but he did not just cease there. He gripped the bars with his hands, glaring deathly at Yeomso while his trembling lips parted as he cursed at The Capricorn. Yeomso’s smile faded instantly and, in a blink, he swiftly pointed one of his detachable horns right at Stawarski’s nose.
The whole troop of guards reacted at Yeomso’s abrupt threat. Yeomso altered his horn into a bayonet, making it sharper than his horn. He smirked at the troubled Stawarski, loving how the village head tasted fright.
“You will regret treating me this way, young Human,” Yeomso touched Stawarski’s bridge of nose with his bayonet tip, “I’m a King. The King of Capricorn Valley. Everyone in my valley respects my entire family. No one could treat me this way.”
Stawarski glared at the winning Yeomso. Yeomso grinned from ear to ear, declaring his victory indirectly to Hideo. As he took a glance at the guard who chatted with him a while ago, he just realized the guard was ducking his head until his upper body bowed along. The shivering limbs he had intrigued Yeomso to inquire, but Yeomso has not been able to voice out as Hideo groaned like a wild animal. Just when a guard nearest to him accost to ask what has happened, he outrageously stabbed the guard with his own spear. The spear even penetrated through the guard’s body and almost pierced Stawarski too.
The entire corridor turned havoc. Most of the guards fled from the scene. A few around Stawarski remained but shuddered in unbounded fear of the unexpected incident. Hideo pulled out the spear, dropping the guard’s feeble body onto the dusty floor and fixating his target at Stawarski solely. Stawarski jumped out of scare and hid himself behind a guard as Hideo roared, quaking the floor beneath their feet.
“You!” with the bloodied spear, Hideo threatened to stab Stawarski next, “You good for nothing village head! Tending to be ridiculously respectful but neglecting our necessity because of your own selfishness! I swear you won’t get away from this mess eternally!”
The guard desperately scrammed, leaving only Hideo, Stawarski and Yeomso. Yeomso was physically handicapped due to the capture, but he could actually do something to help the frightened Stawarski. As for Hideo, he did not sense anything weird coming from him earlier, therefore he had no idea how Hideo suddenly threw tantrum like that.
Not only Hideo has stabbed his own colleague (though Yeomso doubted their intimacy), he has also done grave fault – Threatening to kill Stawarski. If it was to occur in The Capricorn Valley, Hideo would definitely get mandatory sentence to death. However, he did not know how the rules on The Earth executed criminals like Hideo.
“Because of your foolishness, I have lost my little sister! Because of your useless plan, that Witch has abducted my little sister!” Hideo went on massive rampage, swaying his spear to everywhere. “She was my only family member! She was only six at the moment! Don’t you ever think of escapism at this rate, you prick!”
That’s it. The main source of detained fury. It somehow explained Hideo’s reasoning for refusing to act as instructed by Stawarski, but Yeomso could not discover what has gotten into him. While Yeomso was grasping the situation, Hideo’s limbs interchanged into paws and long legs. He fell onto the floor, grunting louder, and his body has fully transformed into a wolf.
“A werewolf!” Stawarski shrieked in panic, “So you’re the real assistant of The Witch!”
“I’m not her assistant and don’t ever change the topic!” The talking wolf pounced at Stawarski. He pinned the latter down, hoisting up his front paw and extending his claws. “Because of you, I am all alone now!”
“Hideo! Don’t kill him!” Yeomso yelled from within his cell. “No matter how guilty he is, you can’t enforce your own punishment!”
“But he murdered my sister, Yeomso!” the wolf exhaled at Stawarski’s sweaty face. “He! Must! Be! Killed!”
“I said no!”
The jail bars of Yeomso’s cell broke apart in pieces. Yeomso has turned into the ultimate Capricorn power. His already-long horns grew longer, depicting its increasing destructiveness. Yeomso himself has enlarged in size, growing taller in height and mightier in brawn. Only with one forward step, Yeomso could grope Hideo’s nape and lifted him up in the air. It was a golden chance for Stawarski to escape, but due to an overwhelming terror, he could not even breathe properly. His shaking pupils fixated at the rampaging Hideo in Yeomso’s grasp.
“Hideo, please listen to me,” Yeomso put the wolf-liked Hideo further from Stawarski, “You are controlled by your revenge. You can’t let this anger taking over your sanity. If you killed Stawarski, you might end up in jail instead of me. What happened to your little sister is gruesome, but that doesn’t mean you must kill him with your own hand.”
Yeomso’s composed tone in persuading Hideo somehow successfully soothed the latter. Even though he has transformed into a werewolf, his glittering eyes displayed his disappointment, and the welled up tears eventually trickled down. His longing towards his little sister was painfully unbearable. His grudge upon ruthless leader like Stawarski led him to unleash his latent superpower.
Superpower? So Humans have their own ability, huh? Yeomso secretly frowned, processing the information he has just received from the scene. With his own eyes, he saw how Hideo’s body changed into a wolf. He was a Dimensional, but he could tell it was a carnivorous Earthling which could devour even Humans. Humans would not normally eat themselves except cannibalism, however a cannibal did not transform into a wolf before having a feast of food.
“Hideo, what are you actually?” minutes of contemplation, Yeomso finally question the most basic query. There was impossible that no one would not get intrigued by the ambush. Plus, it was from a werewolf.
Stawarski tripped on his foot when he was about to abscond. Yeomso quickly snatched his collar and dragged him closer. Stawarski should be the one listening to Hideo instead of him. He was a total stranger – Despite being a King of The Capricorn Valley, he had no authority to rule The Earth. He was basically powerless.
The wolf did not respond to Yeomso’s inquiry. Yeomso was disappointed at Hideo’s refusal to open up. Provoking him a little by stepping on his hind legs, Hideo growled in annoyance.
“Just let me go!”
By only one strong swing of his hind leg, Yeomso slipped his foot off, releasing Hideo from his range. Without delay, Hideo leapt towards Stawarski alongside flaring rage in his eyes. He pressed his front paw on Stawarski’s Adam’s apple, basically to strangle him but it was not enough. He extended his claws again and directly pierced into Stawarski’s skin, making the victim to yelp helplessly.
“Hideo.”
Yeomso’s tone was still calm. This time, he did not touch Hideo. He reverted to his original body since he realized there was nothing he could do even though he employed The Capricorn’s power to fight against either Hideo or Stawarski. All he could do was to coax Hideo so that the werewolf would not really finish off Stawarski’s miserable life.
“I know you’re in pain,” Yeomso stroked over Hideo’s fur from the nape to the spine. “You were crying non-stop because you long for your little sister. I can’t stop you from hating Stawarski, but I hope you won’t kill him.”
The gentle touch and earnest words by Yeomso surprisingly calmed Hideo down. Hideo missed such tenderness. After his parents passed away from disease, only his little sister patted him lovingly. Now, he has lost the relieving touch he used to adore.
“Then, tell me, Yeomso.”
Witnessed by Yeomso and Stawarski, Hideo reverted from a werewolf to his original form – a Human. Stawarski has gradually released from Hideo’s claws, but blood did ooze out from the wound. He appeared naked – without even an underpants – and crouched on the bare floor. His skinny body foretold everyone how much he has suffered because of Stawarski.
“How can I erase this loath, Yeomso? How can I extinguish the flame of hatred burning in me? How can I get my revenge, Yeomso? Tell me, Yeomso!” He held his fists on the floor, his whole body shivered whether in cold nakedness or in latent fury. “What else to be suited as his resolution for the misfortune he has brought to this village but his death?”
“Didn’t you say that Stawarski was actually an awesome leader?”
Hideo flinched as Yeomso patted his shoulder, assuring him that there were other ways to penalize Stawarski. Stawarski was cruel, but it did not licensed anyone to kill him just simply.
“So in order to get your revenge, you must slowly torture him instead.”
It was smoothly delivered. It was almost inaudible. It could be missed, however the only listeners there were Hideo and Stawarski. Hideo was convinced that he did not mishear, and his inner thought was confirmed by Stawarski’s panicking flee. He heard it right – Yeomso suggested him to abuse Stawarski instead of immediately finishing his life off.
Stawarski has only risen from the floor to truly abscond when Yeomso’s elongated horn hooked on his clothes from behind, tugging him away from leaving the scene. It was astonishing to view how fearful he was when Yeomso’s scornful complexion came to his sight. Not enough with pitiful face, he even implored to spare his life.
“What- I thought you despise violence, Yeomso,” Hideo sat still on the bare floor, digesting the upside down situation.
Previously, he was the one victimizing Stawarski in order to satisfy his killing lust. The situation flipped as Yeomso was currently the one pinning Stawarski down. Yeomso’s fingers grazed along the recently shortened horn, magically changing it into a dagger. He did not need to prove its sharpness – Its blindingly shining tip frightened anyone seeing it.
“I don’t despise violence, Hideo,” Yeomso stretched his nape, producing loud cracking noise. “I just said that you shouldn’t kill him in one blow.”
Hideo could not comment much. He was about to faint as he saw how Yeomso slowly slashed Stawarski’s skin all over his body. The wounds inflicted were not deep, but Yeomso intentionally added up more cuts as he was satisfied once the previous wound leaked blood profusely. No matter how much Stawarski cried and pleaded Yeomso to stop proceeding, The Capricorn did not seem to bother. In fact, he was about to cut Stawarski’s littlest finger when Stawarski shivered too much.
“You don’t have to move much, young Human,” Yeomso wiped the blood staining his dagger with his thumb, “You were actually ashamed of your incapability to capture The Witch, right? However, instead of admitting your weakness, you lashed your temper at your villagers. Why was that? So absurd!”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Stawarski was losing his clear view. His sight has already become blurry, and his head felt like spinning. He could not afford to lift either his head or his hand up. Although his energy has depleted, he could still breathe normally. “Please forgive me! I won’t torture my villagers again!”
Yeomso rose from pinning down Stawarski, but he did not just let the perpetrator free simply. He stepped on Stawarski’s stomach, pressing it a little hard and lifting up his foot back as he saw the cutting wounds on it bled. Stawarski could barely resist or beg to spare his life.
“All those injuries will heal if you just tell Hideo who The Witch actually is.”
