The giant robot kept the large blue spherical barrier that protected itself as a castle, it was a giant marble of protection that also served as an offence, damaging anything that came into contact with it. It was a pretty common and competent method of defence and attack provided for magic users, at least those with a lot of mana and proficiency with barrier spells though it was rather costly to repeatedly use or sustain.
Still, it was a method made to counterattack that was highly effective when timed at the exact moment of impact of an attack from an enemy. However… this fighting fortress was capable of sustaining the barrier around its body constantly with little effort, assisted by the mana of the vampires within.
It was an unbreakable and immovable wall that forced its foes to shatter and break against it.
Corai had his mind going at miles a minute on a method to deal with this machine of destruction.
In the past, he was able to beat barrier users with fake-outs to drain them of their mana until they lost the ability to maintain it. Usually, he had enough MP himself to make it a war of attrition and then someone else would pounce with their full might and end the fight.
This wasn’t an option this time, he lacked the MP at the current moment to do too much more, he had only a few big moves left and there was no one here who could help him or at least had the strength to make a difference. So he had to test and stretch the limits of his opponent and find an opening. Then smash the castle with every last drop of magical power he had left.
It was the only option. Zelo inhaled and laughed exactly once with incredible mirth.
“Impressive… for a fool! However, the Wanderer is nothing compared to me!
“If you put too much faith into that simpleton’s designs, death will surely find you in the end. Watch! I’ll break that hunk of scrap metal in mere moments!”
The entire city watched with bated breath. The vampires that remained inside hissed, tired of the constant boasting but doubt began to take root in their minds.
“Supreme Spell: Projection: Asura!”
Around Zelo’s floating form, a blue flame erupted and began to grow until it matched the size of the mecha facing him, the fire began to take shape, forming a muscular demonic man with sharp claws and fangs, formed of blue energy that crackled with raw power!
Six arms bulging with muscle despite the ethereal nature of the spell, an armour made of mana that resembled a mythical monster.
One titan ready to battle another.
It was all a lie. Corai had not put any magical power behind this crafted creature.
Much like his usual magic, it was merely an illusion of sorts, or rather something that looked impressive yet held no real power. Still, he had every intention to fight with it.
He smiled smugly and prayed it was going to work out. He was nervous beyond imagination but a small juvenile part of his heart was excited for what was coming next.
If only he wasn’t at death’s door, on a clock and lacking real sleep. He was running on fumes and the high of shattering endurance.
He roared a battle cry as the monster man he had summoned charged forward and began to punch at the barrier of the castle warrior. The fists of the asura flew in a fury of fast and heavy blows.
That’s what it looked like anyway. Whenever the punches were about to hit the barrier, Corai cast a simple magic missile spell with extra strength behind it at the point of impact.
It did absolutely nothing to damage the actual shell of blue energy but it was just enough to shake it, the vibrations could faintly be felt by the enemies within the machine.
Everything was going just as planned. After a few barrages, the demon leapt back and returned to a stance ready to strike instead of simply unleashing punch after punch.
The Vampire Queen gained a boost of confidence, watching her fighting machine not take a single hit of any damage from the blue demon.
She pushed forward on the magical orb that gave her input over the giant of metal and stone. It punched at the demon, the barrier reshaping itself to aid the shape of the titan throwing out a right hook.
The blue demon evaporated in one strike… along with the Demon Khan Zelo.
Then it reappeared instantly behind them. “You fell for it yet again, you really are a stupid little child aren’t you!?” The beast of blue flames threw out another bombardment of swift blazing blows at the back of the metal warrior! Corai increased the magical force behind the fake punches just a bit, enough to shake the air within the bubble of power with more strength than before, enough to unsettle the atmosphere within just a bit more than before.
Yet the end result was the same.
No actual damage to the fighting fortress nor anything to the barrier, occasionally a tiny crack would form but it would quickly heal due to the energy being fed by the inhabitants within. Everything was going just as planned. The metal man swung his entire body backwards and smashed the apparition with its left arm’s entire length.
It ripped the demon into shreds of toilet paper as its attack made contact with the body of magic.
Frustration filled the Queen’s mind as her opponent was resorting to cheap tricks again.
It was a good sign that her foe no longer had any strength to challenge her but it also meant dealing with trick after trick that held no substance. She wanted to scream and shriek from the rage that was building inside of her body.
The phantom asura appeared right behind the giant yet again and this threw out punch after punch form its six arms just as it had done shortly before.
This time Corai weaved true illusion punches into the mix, attacks that looked like they did something but actually did nothing at all and turned to nothingness the moment it touched the barrier. He began to project multiple additional fist-shaped missiles and launched them in corkscrewing motions, false attacks mixed in with real ones.
Though, there was no actual threat behind the impressive display of pugilism.
Again the fighting robot turned and destroyed the asura with a single attack filled with rage.
It immediately turned back to where it had come, expecting another back attack… but nothing was there this time. “Up here!” This time the demon was falling from above and instead of preparing an assault of punches, there were six orbs of flame in each palm of the furious god.
“Supreme Spell: Supernova Variation Six Swords!”
The vampires and their queen baulked back from the impending attack, the swords of flame had damaged the barrier once before were coming down and now in triplicate.
The queen surely thought that this was what Zelo had been waiting for, to strike with everything he had at this moment. One last desperate attempt for victory.
She was only half right. She began to send in much of her power and redirected the barrier to form a shield to match the strike above. The blazing blades made a slight impact against the shield of mana, not even making a single mark of damage against the insurmountable wall of magical energy that came to stop it.
Two absurdly giant claws of blue flame then wrapped around the waist of the steel titan from behind. The real Zelo had been hiding the entire time. The one above was as always a fake distraction.
These arms were very real and seemed to be coming from the very core of Zelo’s being. This was the actual blow that Corai had bet everything on. He put every drop of magical energy he had left into this. It was his final gambit. His last gamble. Betting it all on…!
The phantom arms lifted the huge knight into the air and then Zelo’s body and the claws pulled back with all their force and the giant began to topple… and crashed headfirst into the ground!
Then the rest of the building toppled over and collapsed, not moving even a single inch.
The fighting fortress and the horde within went silent. Zelo floated downwards to the earth and used all his strength to stay standing upon the earth. His legs were close to collapsing.
“Don’t get up. Don’t get up…! For the love of all that is good, please don’t get up!”
Corai kept murmuring to himself as his eyes were fixed on the broken building.
A single figure rose from the wreckage.
A pale woman with dark hair, storm cloud grey eyes and an hourglass figure marched outwards.
She was covered in blood, small cuts and bruises and limped forward slowly towards Corai.
She hadn’t yet given up the fight. Corai groaned as he lifted up his silver sword to point at his advancing enemy. His vision was beginning to become blurry as she came within striking distance. Her right hand moved in a blur and the sharp red nails scraped his neck and she began to choke him as he pointed the tip of his blade at her neck.
They both stayed in the stalemate, breathing with ragged breaths robbed of all physical strength.
One move could end it all for either or both of them. Internally their minds were filled with hundreds of curses about how they got into this ridiculous situation.
Corai actually doubted if he could beat her to the punch, he found it likely he’d die before he could even land his counter. At this rate she’ll get impatient and just go for it, taking his life because she had the courage to take the risk of death.
Out of mana and out of options for attacking or defending… a horrible track record for intimidation and negotiating seemingly closed off those options too.
Oddly enough taking this second of pause he couldn’t help but stare at his adversary.
Her chest was rather… bountiful. Much like the vampires in the fantasy of his world, it seems they wore rather victorian like dresses, the women wearing corsets that elevated her assets.
He couldn’t believe that his eyes and mind were swaying to such details at this moment.
Or perhaps it was because he was about to die that his gaze wanted to indulge one last time.
“...Fuck it.” Corai came to a decision. One last attempt. One last ripping off of media from his homeworld. He was going to take the plunge.
He was going to roll to seduce.
