CHAPTER 7

2816 Words
LUKE After our talk last night, I didn't see my parents again. They've been in their room figuring things out, and I've been in mine doing the same thing. My mom just called me saying I need to get ready for school. I was a little tired from being up all night. I took a light shower and put a hoodie and jeans on. After getting ready, I went to get my mom. According to dad, she was down in the kitchen, so I went downstairs to see her. I asked what her and dad came up with while planning. She was super vague. She wasn't giving me any information, so I gave up and figured she would talk to me with dad later. I was kinda annoyed that she wouldn't talk to me now, so I didn't talk to my mom at all when we got in the car. We drove in complete silence on our way to school. When we got there, I got out and went straight to class. Everyone started coming in, then the teacher came in and started class. About ten minutes after it started, I began to wonder where Freya was. I mean, I know she can be late sometimes, but I still always worry about her. Class came to an end and we were dismissed. Now I was super worried that she hadn't come. I wanted to leave and find her so badly, but I didn't even know where she lived, so I just went to the second class and hoped she was OK. About two minutes later, I sat down. She entered with her arms crossed and pointing her head down. When she looked up, she came straight towards me and sat down next to me. I looked at her and asked where she was but she just shrugged and didn't say anything. That definitely calmed my nerves...NOT. instead of pushing her to talk to me. I just stared at her the entire class. Why was she so quiet? I mean she's always super quiet, but right now she hasn't even lied to me to say shes fine. She just ignored me. What if something super bad happened to her over the night? Besides the fact she's not talking at all, she looks fine to me, but then again, I only see her face. Her entire body is covered up. She's wearing pants and a hoodie that covers all her skin, which has to mean one thing. She was beaten last night, and she was beaten badly. I wish I could make her come home with me so we can hide her from her parents, but I know that will never work. She will just want to leave unless I convince her I can keep her safe. Then maybe she will come with me. I'm going to keep my best friend safe first. I just need her to come home with me. I mean how hard can that be. I was so deep in thought I didn't realize class was coming to an end. The kids started getting up to leave and it snapped me out of my head. I packed my things and got up to follow Freya out the door. As I followed behind her, I told her about the twins and how they'd been expelled. She had a small smile on her face but it immediately disappeared. At least I got something from her. I stopped talking as we walked through the line and to our table. As usual, Freya got a lot of packaged food that she could eat just in case. When we sat down, she opened a bar, and started eating it, but then she just stared at it. I started trying to get her attention but she wasn't answering, so I tapped her shoulder. She just flinched away. She looked at me with a tear in her eye. What's wrong with her? Why won't she just tell me? I thought to myself. Then all of a sudden she told me she would be right back and then she left. I figured she was just going to the bathroom, but she came back pretty quickly. When she got back, she sat on the other side of the table, as if she was trying to kindly avoid me. I asked again if she was OK. She said she was, but I still don't believe her. I scooted closer to her and asked one more time, but all she said was that she didn't want to talk about it, and for me to let it go. I realized she was having a hard time, so I said I would, and I hugged her to give her some comfort. She flinched away really hard again, as if my touch burned her. She looked at me smiling, as if that didn't just happen. I told her to tell me what happened to her but then she just got up and ran away from me. I just sat in my chair, watching her exit the cafeteria. I looked around to see everyone eating and enjoying their meals. I packed up mine, and put her food away, then I went searching for her. What the f**k is wrong with her? What happened to her, and why won't she tell me? I went around the school looking in classrooms, silently calling her name. One of the teachers stopped me, and asked what I was doing. I told them I was looking for my pen that I dropped earlier. I described some random pen to him, and he told me he would let me know if he finds it. He left me alone to my search. Lunch would be over soon, and we were in the same class. She couldn't avoid me for long, that's for sure. I walked down the hall, and I saw the bathroom door open just a little bit. I saw her in there hiding. When she saw me, she closed the door immediately, so I wouldn't be able to go in. I went to the door and started to knock but I stopped myself. I figured she might let me in with her own time. I sat down, and leaned on the wall waiting for her to come out. Another teacher passed by, and asked if I was OK. I told them I was, and I was just chilling waiting for class to start. They looked at me for a second, probably trying to figure out if I was actually ok, which I'm not my bestfrind is in pain and there is nothing I can do about it. I'm helpless in this situation. The teacher said OK and walked away, leaving me to wait for Freya to open the door. Class starts in 20 minutes, so she had to soon. Right then she opened the door to let me in. I got up and walked in. She had tears in her eyes, and I felt bad instantly. I begged her to tell me what was wrong with her, because what just happened wasn't OK. When I finished talking, she didn't say anything for a few minutes. I just stared at her waiting for her response. She didn't say anything, so I told her I was here for her, and that she didn't have to worry. After what felt like an eternity, she started talking, telling me I couldn't tell anyone, which is what she always starts off with when she tells me whatever happens at home. I promised her I wouldent tell a soul and she started talking. she told me how her house was messy when she got home, so she cleaned it up, and started dinner. when she finished she waited for her parents to come home. when they did, she let them settle in, and then went to prepare the food. she took the food to them. she told me there rule, about how she had to wait to be dismissed. it's inhumane, and awful. she said that instead of being dismissed her mom slapped her because the food was cold, and she wanted it warm. her father told her to go heat it up. she did and brought it back to them. her mother was satisfied, but her father told her to wait in the basement, which is where they whip her. before going down, she cleaned everything up in the kitchen, so it wouldn't be to much later. she waited for her dad. when he came down he had salt and a belt. she was surprised by the salt, but was ready for it. then she started crying. I looked at her, and wanted to say something, but I didn't. I let her keep going. She told me her father gave her an ultimatum, either she's cooperative, or she gets beaten a lot. Her mother came down, and her parents f****d right in front of her. I almost threw up in my mouth hearing that. She said that when they finished, they wanted her to eat her mother's v****a. She slightly tried to refuse, but they beat her. They used the salt. She couldn't take the pain, so she gave in and did it. It didn't stop there. Her parents r***d her, over, and, over.I was shaking with anger. at this point, I wanted to kill them. she said that after being there forever, they finally finished. there was a visitor coming, so they took her upstairs, and got her ready. her father r***d her one more time, then took her to the living room to tell her to be a f**k toy for the visitor that was coming. they locked her in her room, and the people r***d her, over, and over. she kept saying she allowed it, as if it was her fault, but it wasn't, and I hate she thinks it was. she said it went on all night, and they finally left in the morning. her mother forced her to make breakfast for herself, and her parents. when she finished they brought another man in to r**e her, and apparently he was very violent. when he was done she fell asleep only to be waken up by her father f*****g her again. my head was spinning, I was starting to only see red. that wasn't it. when she finished getting ready for school, her mother called her and put some device on her ankle to keep her from running away. she pulled her pant leg up to show me. I could tell it was definitely heavy duty, so it would be hard to get off. I won't let that stop me. I took a picture so I could look it up, and see if I could get it off her. When I looked at her, I was pissed. How could people be so cruel, and how could she think she'd allowed it? I heard her tell me to calm down, but I ignored her. I was too far in thought, thinking about how to f*****g kill her parents. I didn't care about anything else around me. I punched the wall so hard, I made a dent in the concrete. After that, I heard her tell me not to tell anyone. How could she say that? How could she just be OK with this life? I'm not OK with that at all, and I'm getting her out of it with everything I got. I was so mad I just stormed out of the bathroom, and went to another. I needed to calm myself and start thinking. I couldn't. I was so pissed. I punched the wall, again, and again. My fists were bloody, and there was a hole in the wall. After a few more punches, I cleaned up my hands, and left. I went back to Freya, and almost went back in, but then I heard her crying. I just walked out on her, and completely ignored her. I definitely ruined her trust. It replayed in my head, what she said, telling me not to tell anyone or do anything. I mean how could she possibly think I'm just going to ignore this, and let it all go. I could feel my anger coming back. I wanted blood from only two people at that point. I've never wanted to kill a person in my life, to rip them to shreds, so they could never do anything bad to anyone ever again. I barely felt in control, so I left her and went to my class. I got there, sat down in my seat, and watched the teacher teach. I was thirty minutes late and when I walked in she looked furious. I doubt she's as mad as I am. I went through class completely in my head. I pulled out my notebook, and started planning an escape to get her out of her hell. I didn't even notice when the bell went off. I was so focused. My teacher walked over to me and asked why I was late. I looked up and everyone was gone. Then I looked at her and told her I was wrapped up in a book I was writing. I lied. I showed her the plans and she asked about them. I told her this was the middle of the book. When two prisoners tried to escape, she looked at me, and then told me good luck with the book. She said I needed to head to my next period, and that she would excuse my being late since I got lost in creativity. It was dumb, but I accepted it. I love how she can pay attention to my absence for the first half, but can't even see the obvious things happening with her students. There's only one teacher that cares and that's Miss Ocean. I've already decided to include her in the plan for Freya's escape. I know she will help, because she's the only one that sees, and cares about what's happening. I packed up my things and went to the gym. I wasn't surprised when Freya didn't walk into class. When I left the bathroom she was still crying. I wanted to comfort her but I didn't want to accidentally snap on her, and make it worse, so I ignored her, thinking that that was the best option. When I got to the gym, I sat in the corner, and ignored everything and everyone that passed by saying hi. I think they got the hint that I was pissed and didn't want to talk to anyone, because they eventually left me alone except for Freya, who walked up to me and started asking what my deal was. She reminded me of everything I told her before she told me what happened to her last night, and this morning. I meant everything I said, that I still loved her, but I was pissed, and I didn't know what to even say to her. She asked why I was mad when this wasn't even happening to me. I just looked at her and then went back to the wall. How could she not understand? She's my best friend, and she just told me she's been r***d by her own f*****g parents. I'm mad, because how could they do that? I'm mad, because she thinks she allowed it. I'm mad, because I couldn't do anything to keep her safe, and I hate myself for it. She then asked why I was mad at her. She said I lied and now I hate her. That's when I realized how much I had just f****d up with my best friend by ignoring her and becoming violent around her. I stormed out of the bathroom and left her to cry alone. "f**k," I thought to myself. Then I told her I wasn't mad, and that I definitely didn't hate her. I loved her. I could never hate her. She had tears in her eyes, and I could tell she cried a lot in the bathroom. I can't believe I just left her like that. I told her that I was mad at her parents, which is why I acted the way I did. I said sorry but I just needed time to process everything. She nodded her head and left for another part of the gym. I didn't want her to leave. I wanted her to stay but I f****d up big time so I let her go. When class was over, I ran over to her and told her to come home with me so she wouldn't have to go back, but she turned down the offer, saying she would get in trouble. I begged her but she wouldn't budge on her decision, so I gave up and went home to finish planning because I was taking her tomorrow no matter what.
