I forced myself to stay completely still, clenching my jaw so hard my teeth ached. I wanted to comfort her, but I knew if I pushed her right now, she would completely shut down. I needed to fix her mood first.
"Hey..." I offered softly, my voice desperate to find a way through her walls. "Do you... do you want to go shopping? We can skip classes today. I'll drive you to the city, buy you whatever you want. Anything. Just come with me."
Trixie let out a long, exhausted breath, shaking her head slowly. "Did everything I just said pass right through your ears, Hunter? I literally just told you I don't want people seeing us together. Going shopping with you defeats the entire point."
"We're mates, Trixie," I said, stepping up to her side, unable to stop myself from trying to reason with her
