Chapter Nine, . . . “W-what are you doing?”, Daisy stuttered. Hades walked towards her and averted his eyes behind her. A cockroach was having its fun time on the counter, nibbling something on the kitchen cabinet below the counter. His inner instincts told him that the woman standing in front of him is very much scared of insects. So, he moved a little closer towards the cabinet and Daisy instantly shut her eyes tightly. “LOL, why is she closing her eyes?!”, Hades thought. Sweeping his hand across the counter, he whacked that creature with the back of his palm, away from both of them. Daisy stood there stiffened, her eyes tightly closed,, and she looked like she almost forgot to breathe for a brief period of time. “It’s gone.” Hades said as he backed away, a little. “W-what?”, Daisy asked as soon as she opened her eyes. Staring right at Hades right in his eyes. “The cockroach.”, “ oh th-that…. Was a cockroach?” She asked bashfully. Her cheeks tinted pinkish. Hades nodded my head. “What in the world were you thinking, Daisy?!?”, Daisy scolded herself. She resisted the urge to smack her forehead in front of him. Turning around, she fanned her face that was hot by now. She felt Hades’s gaze behind her. She adjusted her posture and just then something flew around her and landed on her shoulders. Likewise, she glanced it through the corner of her eyes and then, it began creeping up. “Aaaaaaaahhhhh…”, Daisy shrieked jumping backwards while her hands were vigorously knocking the roach off her body, trying her best to get rid of that stupid creature. Hades’s panicked eyes were over her. “Look roach, I am not scared of you. I don’t have any issues if you mind your own business and stay away from me. PLEASE GET OFF ME”, Daisy cried loudly. Hades immediately came to her rescue. He knocked down the cockroach off her shoulders and whacked it with a flyswatter, after taking it from the storage area below the counter. He shoved the unconscious cockroach into the trash can with the flyswatter. “Are you phobic to insects?” He asked, turning around while dusting off his palms. “No!”, Daisy exclaimed a little loudly. He chuckled. “Then why were you screaming?” He asked as he cleaned his palms with water and hand wash. “It’s just…… I hate those creatures. They are very annoying and unhygienic.” Daisy retched, showing a disgusted face. He again chuckled. “Wow, what has gotten into him? Anyway….this feels so good… at least he isn’t THAT cold anymore.”, Daisy thought to herself. “I’ll call the pest control service. It’s been two months since we did one.” Hades said, taking up his phone while dialing a number. After a few talks, he hung up the call and turned towards Daisy. “The pest control workers will come by tomorrow.” “Okay.” Daisy nodded her head, smiling at him. He also nodded at her back. And as usual, they had their breakfast together. Utter silence floated in the surrounding atmosphere except for the sounds of forks and knives clanking on the plates resounded inside the kitchen. After having breakfast, Hades marched out the mansion and the driver drove him off to his company building. The next day, Daisy took a day off from her classes since she had to keep up with the Pest controlling process. Mary also aided her in everything. the evening finished the process. Since both Hades and Daisy weren’t allergic to this pesticide fumes, they stayed at the house itself. On the other hand, Hades schedule have been hectic for days because of the new project he was looking forward too. He really wanted to stay home so that he can help with the pest control process, but the project meeting was too important to miss. But thankfully, he managed to reach home early. It was almost 8 at night when he got inside his mansion. There wasn’t any trace of Daisy in the area. Hades was confused for a moment, later brushed it off thinking that she’s in her room. Climbing the stairs, he dragged himself towards his bedroom. But the faint, lively sound of guitar caught his attention. He ambled towards the source of sound. It was coming from the balcony. His eyes caught the tiny figure of Daisy seated across the couch, her body facing the night sky spread a fore her beyond the white balustrade. Her side view was facing me. Her hairs were open, her slender fingers glided along the strings of the instrument, her eyes were partially closed as she gently swayed along with the music and occasionally humming. “I was unaware that she can play guitar. In fact I don't know anything about her even after living under the same roof for almost two months.”, Hades talked to himself. He languidly crossed his arms over his chest leaning on the nearby wall and closed his eyes taking in the soothing, yet lively sounds produced by the guitar. After a few minutes, the sound stopped and Hades instantly opened his eyes. Daisy was looking at him, a little nervously. “I'm sorry if I disturbed you.” She immediately apologized, standing up. “No, you didn't disturb me. It was good,, actually.” Hades said and gave her a small smile. She was taken aback, but nevertheless she flashed me a bright smile. “Uh… Thank you.” She said, tucking a few strands of her dark hair behind her ear. Hades nodded his head. He walked back to his room and after entering inside, he closed the door behind him and sat on the couch. “Why did I smile at her? And why am I feeling comfortable around her? I didn't even know why my body reacted in that way.”, He asked himself and let a bitter-sweet chuckle. “I don't have an answer for my recent behavior, lol what’s wrong with me!, Oh god!”. He sighed. Brushing the thoughts off his head, he prepared himself to sleep after taking a quick shower. a Few more days rolled down the horizon after that night. But strangely, Hades turned back to his cold behavior. He didn't smile after that day and was avoiding every kind of conversation with Daisy even though they rarely talked. “ I don't know what has gotten into him. He barely reached home early, let alone having a short convo with me. Not only that, but he didn't even wait to have breakfast these days.” Daisy sighed and yawned as she stretched her numb limbs. After sitting in the same position for hours, completing the assignments and projects made her whole body feel numb. She glanced at her phone. “What the hell! It's already 1am. Gosh, I messed up my sleeping schedule.” She whined, flailing her legs in the air while she threw herself on the fluffy mattress. Papers, plastic wrappers of snacks and empty cola cans were carelessly scattered all over the bed. She sighed and stood up to clean the mess she created. After cleaning her room and herself, she plopped down on the couch. And again she sighed. “Your life is full of sighs, Daisy”, she joked to herself. She was staring the ceiling and suddenly realized that Hades hadn't returned home. Yes, he comes late, but not this late. Even though she hadn't seen him entering home, still she always heard the passcode punching sounds by him. But now it's already two hours past midnight. There wasn't any trace of him in the big mansion. For some odd reasons, she saw herself pacing back and forth in the huge living room. It would be a blatant lie, if she said that she was not even a bit attracted towards her lawfully wedded Greek statue husband. He is indeed attractive, in fact devilishly handsome and professionally intelligent. But one thing, in her perspective, she didn’t like about him was his cold demeanor. Because every time, she couldn't decipher what's going inside his mind. Another half an hour passed and the clock striked 2:30am and Daisy felt her head aching. She badly wanted to sleep, but her mind said otherwise. She dropped her body on the couch, preparing herself to sleep. The intercom ringed, waking her instantly, and her drowsy eyes immediately shot up. She walked towards the corridor and looked at the intercom. Two men were standing at the doorstep. And in a second she recognized the one among them, the one who was clinging onto the other guy's shoulder, putting the bulk of his body weight on the poor unknown man. That man was none other than her husband. Hades. She immediately ran and open the door. The tall stranger standing in front of him respectfully bowed at him. “Hello Mrs. Shega, I'm Lee, Mr. Shega’s secretary.” The aforesaid tall man, who's supposedly Hades’s secretary, solemnly said while tightening his grip around Hades’s waist. And that's when Daisy noticed Hades’s state, he was definitely wasted. His dress and hair was wet as if he was drenched in water. His head was hung low, he hiccuped periodically while mumbling something incoherent from time to time. “Mrs. Shega, could you please help me? Mr. Shega is a bit umm-heavy” Lee said awkwardly clearing his throat. That's when Daisy realized that she was had been gawking at Hades for a whole damn minute. She immediately nodded her head at his request and threw Hades’s arms over her shoulders while adjusting him between both Lee and herself. It was very difficult to carry Hades up the stairs towards his room. They made Hades sit on his bed and immediately his body fell on the mattress while his legs dangled from the bed. He continued mumbling. Lee turned around to face Daisy as she stood beside Hades. “I'm extremely sorry Mrs. Shega, Mr. Shega never drinks, but today he was compelled by Mr. Roy, for whom our new project is submitted. It all started from a single shot and continued till both the parties turned clearly drunk. And I don't know whether Mr. Shega had informed you or not…” he waited for a response. But she didn't utter a word, so he continued, “…that the tender was successful. And we held a quick success party.” He said. Daisy mouth formed an 'O' shape while nodding. “But how did he get drenched?”, Daisy asked, looking at Hades who was squirming in the bed. “Mr. Shega was drunk when he stepped down from the barstool,, and I was busy with some other officials talking about business matters. Mr. Shega gait was staggered, and before I could reach him, he tripped and fell into the nearby pool.” Lee said apologetically as he held his head low. “It's okay. I'll take care of him.” Daisy said. “And Mrs. Shega, please do change his clothes before he sleeps or else he'll fall sick........and let me take my leave” Lee bowed his head. “Umm… Mr. Lee?”, She called him hesitantly, and he stopped in his tracks and turned around to face her. “Yes Mrs. Shega?", “Uh…umm… could you please help him change his wet clothes?” She said, awkwardly fiddling her fingers. Lee gave her a 'what do you mean look'. “We aren't that close yet.” Daisy said and pursed her lips. He was taken aback, but nodded understandingly and walked towards Hades. Daisy slipped out of the room and ran downstairs towards the kitchen. Knowing that Hades will fall sick. She proceeded to take the necessary pills and a glass of water, a wet cloth to place on his forehead to reduce his body temperature if it rises, and waited outside the room. About five minutes later, Lee walked out of Hades room, “Mrs. Shega, I changed his clothes.....umm.....so, I'll take my leave.” He said and again bowed at Daisy. “Thank you so much Mr. Lee for helping me”, Daisy smiled and lightly bowed at him. He flashed her another grateful smile and left. Daisy sighed and looked at Hades, who was laying on the bed. He wasn't asleep. Likewise, he kept on mumbling something. Daisy walked towards him and sat beside him on the bedside. His face was flushed as he continuously perspired. His nose was tinted pink at the tip, his eyes slightly red and puffy, his cheeks glistened while his rosy lips quivered. He furrowed his eyebrows now and then indicating he was having a nightmare or more like he was fighting with his mind. Daisy gently shook his body. He didn't wake up. So, she gently tapped his cheeks, calling out his name. Still no reply, he kept on mumbling. Daisy sighed again. “Oh god”, Daisy made him sit straight on the bed. His eyes were droopy, and then he gazed at her. She looked at him for a few seconds and took the pill in my hand. Opening it, she took the glass and placed it near his mouth. His drunken eyes stared at hers. “Open your mouth.” She said, and gently touched his lips with the rim of the glass. He chuckled. But He wasn't listening to her. So, she gently tugged his cheeks and opened his mouth. After placing the pill in his tongue, she carefully slide the glass as water flowed inside his mouth. He gulped it down his throat almost instantly. Daisy placed the glass on the nightstand and was about to get up, but got immediately got pulled by her wrist and she crashed against his hard chest. He was warm and in that instant she felt her stomach flipping as a strange feeling of affection towards the man. Her heart was on a rollercoaster and Hades giggled softly, making Daisy fall for him. .
