She lay somewhere dark. No, it wasn’t dark. It was very bright actually, but her eyes were closed. Still, she could see the light coming in through her eyelids. She tried to open them, but they were sealed shut. Where was she? She felt around, but felt nothing, not even a bed or hard floor. Was she floating? The world around her was far too quiet. Had she gone deaf? Was it possible for the earth to be this still and silent? How did she get here? What was her last memory? She racked her brain, but was only met with hazy images. There was a shadow and a dancing orange light. She was scared, but why? What had she just been doing? She tried to move, to sit up, but her head weighed a ton and her joints were locked and stiff.
