Chapter 2 Kyier I watched as the truck pulled up to the front of the building. I reached for my welcoming gift. Stood and adjusted my uniform. I put on my best dress clothing. It was unfamiliar to me. Working in the healing center, I wore much more comfortable clothing. Not unlike the things Renessa wore called scrubbers. Better material. Stronger. Like light armor. I was escorted to the signing room to meet Renessa. It is where we would both sign the marriage contract. Then head to my shuttle to return to Turan. Home. I felt anxious waiting for them to bring her in. I remember the 'welcoming your wife' said to be mindful of her feelings. She may not be excited to leave her home world. She may be nervous scared or angry. Make sure to speak in soft tones and ask about her often. Offer her comfort foods earth women found delicious. Chocohalls. Screaming Ice and doughnuggs. I had tried a few. The doughnuggs were most delicious but I am unsure of what type of creature they are made from. I do hope Renessa can make them. I had purchased some for our abode to make her feel welcome. Along with a sugar meal called cake. I felt confident she would feel welcome. I used the earth version of the internet and looked up what type of thing earth women from her sector enjoyed. Her sector had a lot to offer. The sounds called jazz music were most soothing. They offered a wide variety of consumables. People came from all over to try. I was very interested in food that came from sea creatures. Turan sea creatures are not very digestible. I shook my head to clear my thoughts as I saw them bring her in. The barbarians! they weren't even holding her bag. I stepped forward to go relieve her of it and was stopped by their religion tellers. "Patience. She will be here momentarily." They said this as if I couldn't tell. I asked them" Why is she carrying that bag when there are 2 able bodied men there?" They looked at each other and the one with the small covering on his head stepped outside and had a word with the agents. As he came back in, I saw the shorter agent reach for her bag. I nodded at the religion keeper and he smiled back. He should understand how these things work. My stomach felt in knots as I saw her look up and directly at me. She didn't smile but that was ok. I knew it was nerves. I don't find myself unattractive. Even compared to male humans. She was slowly being led to the door and I couldn't wait. Nessie Holy s**t! He was big. I mean massive. Ok maybe just to me because I'm only about 160 cm, a bit over 5'1 honestly, but man He had to be about 200cm maybe even 6'7. I looked at him He wasn't ugly . He kind of resembled a regular guy accept the golden skin color(like actual gold, the ears (they were pointy, like an elf) and his eyes. There was no white part. they were yellow with blueish black centers. Scary and intriguing at the same time. He was dressed like maybe some kind of army guy. I'm not sure what that uniform was. It was a nice fit. He was very muscular. Part of me was curious, part of me wanted to turn and run, but I had heard what happened to those who did that. It was pleasant and they still ended up in space anyway. The agents held the doors to the signing room open for me. I took a deep breath and walked in. As soon as the doors closed behind me, the huge alien moved closer. I was rooted to the spot I stood in although my brain was saying run. He came closer and bent down so we were closer in height. "Hello Renessa. My name is Kyier of Turan. I am most pleased to meet you. " He bowed and kissed my hand. "I'm Renessa.Renessa Nessie." I stammered out. I was getting butterflies and the urge to run was getting stronger although he didn't seem as scary as my nightmares made him out to be. "Well then , Nessie, shall we?" He took his place on side of me and took my arm in his. This is it. I'm legit getting married. To an alien. Now It was quick. Too quick. In a matter of 3 minutes and 2 I do's and 2 signatures, it was done. I was a married woman heading to another planet. I went to pick up my luggage, but he grabbed it for me. He fumbled a bit with his other hand, then set it down. "Here. I chose your welcome gift after reading through your bio and watching the holo you uploaded." That stupid video where we are supposed to mention a few favorite thing. Right. He hands me a small package. i take my time unwrapping it and am pleasantly surprised to find a sapphire necklace made to look like the Death Star. I audibly gasped and his eyes perked up with maybe hope, I'm not sure. "Do you like it?" He asked. "I watched several of the earth holos on Star Wars after you mentioned it was your favorite in your bio and on the holo. Our jewel maker was most excited to try making this piece for you. Allow me to put it on?" "Yes. Please." I turned so he could work the clasp. After it was secured I turned to him. "Thank you. This is an extremely thoughtful gift. " Very personal too. Just how much does he know about me? "Are you ready to board the shuttle?" He picked my luggage back up and waited for me to follow. "Yes. Did you pilot your own or will we be using community transit?" I really hoped he had his own . The idea of being cramped with a new husband and so many people was just too much. "I have my own. It will be about 1 earth day to reach Turan. We can practically do the whole trip on autopilot. Come." He lead me to the docking bay and stopped at a sleek looking shuttle. He proudly said "Here she is. We've been through a lot together.". I just smiled, assuming he meant the war. We went in and he closed the hatch. "Ok back here are the living quarters. We will stow your items here. You will need to be strapped into the copilot seat until we reach orbit. I nodded and followed him back to what I guessed was the front of the shuttle. "Have a set here. I will help you get strapped in." I sat and he did the buckles. I managed to murmur a thank you as he went to his seat. After clicking some buttons and getting a response about clearance he turned to me and asked was I ready. I nodded my head. I was too nervous, too scared to speak. He slowly disengaged the shuttle from the dock and after a few moments we were off. I looked as we went at first feeling like we were on an airplane but the higher we got I could feel and see the difference. As we left earths atmosphere I took one last look at the place I used to call home and would give anything to go back to.
