~iris I felt him before I saw him. The air shifted like the mansion itself straightened in attention. My heart skipped as his presence flooded the space, calm and commanding, wrapping around me through the bond. I turned just as Duncan stepped into the hallway, removing his coat. His sharp eyes swept the room first - checking exists, corners, guards- before finally landing on me. And when they did, something unreadable flickered across his face. “So,” he said slowly, one brow lifting, “ you're already roaming my house.” I swallowed. “ I was…just looking around.” He walked closer, unhurried, boots echoing softly against the floor. “ Looking around,” he repeated, amusement creeping into his voice. “ Most people Wait to be invited before exploring the alpha's territory.” I crossed my arm defensively. “ You didn't say I couldn't.” A small smile tugged at his lips. “ True.” He stopped right in front of me, towering slightly, his gaze dropping briefly to my bare feet before returning to my eyes. “ Comfortable already?” “ I don't plan on breaking anything,” I said. He chuckled quietly, “ Good. because if you did, I'd have to keep you longer.” My breath hitched before I could stop it. He noticed. Of course he did. “ Relax,” he said softly, teasing. “ I'm relaxed” I said. He came closer “ no you're not. Little wolf, no one's you're here, that's how it stays. For one week. “ “ One week, “ I echoed. ‘yes,” he said firmly. “ No school. No calls. No visitors. You rest. “ Before I could respond. Thorne appeared at the end of the hall, clearing his throat lightly. “Alpha,” he said, respectful but urgent. “ The pack elders are assembled. The meeting can't be delayed.” Duncan jaw tightened slightly, he exhaled, clearly annoyed. “ Timing,” he muttered. He turned to me, “ I'll be gone a few hours .” I nodded. “ Good girl.” He said and I blushed. “ Can I get something outside if I want to ?” I asked. He hesitated,” okay fine. Thorne wherever she's goes follow her.” He nodded. As he Duncan walked away, the bond pulsed once - steady, reassuring. I watched untill he disappeared down the corridor, then I headed upstairs. Hours later, I pulled on a heavy black coat, wrapping it tight around myself, then added a scarf that covered my hair and half my face. I didn't want to be recognized. We left the mansion quietly, one of the guards opening the gate just enough for us to slip out. Thorne drove, eyes sharp, constantly scanning the road like danger could jump out at any moment. We parked our car, and decided to walk to the shop. “ You don't have to stand that close” I muttered. “ Yes I do,” Thorne replied calmly. “ Alpha orders.” I sighed but didn't argue. We walked in silence for a while before curiosity got the better of me. “ Thorne,” I said softly. “ Yes iris.” “ You're…very loyal to Alpha Duncan,” I said carefully. “ Why ?” He glanced at me, then back at the road. “ Because he's my alpha.” “ That's not what I mean,” I pressed. “ You'd die for him. Anyone can see that.” He was quiet for a moment. Then slowed his steps. “ Years ago,” he said, voice low, “ I was a rogue. Injured. Hunted. I had nothing - no pack, no purpose. I was bleeding out when alpha Duncan found me.” I listened closely. “ He could have killed me,” Thorne continued.” No one would have blamed me. Instead, he carried me back himself, paid the healers. Gave me food…. shelter, and a choice.” “ What choice ?” I asked. “ To live for something,” he said simply.” or die meaninglessly.” My chest tightened. “ So my loyalty isn't just duty, “ Thorne finished. “ It's gratitude. He saved my life when he didn't have to.” I nodded slowly.” I understand.” We reached the shop, and I went inside alone while Thorne Stayed near the door, watching everything. As I browsed the shelves, someone bumped lightly into my shoulder. “ Sorry about that, “ a voice said - smooth, confident. I looked up and froze slightly. She was tall, sharp jawed, dressed in relaxed masculine clothes– a stud. Her eyes lingered on me, curious and amused. “ No problem, “ I said quickly. She smiled.” You're new around here.” “ Just visiting,” I replied. She titled her head. “ That accent ….and those eyes. You hiding from something?” I laughed softly despite myself.” Maybe.” She grinned.” I like mystery.” Before I could stop her, she pulled out her phone. “ Give me your number, Incase you get bored of hiding.” I hesitated, then gave it her anyway. “ Name's ky, “ she said.” Hope I see you again .” She walked out. Leaving me oddly unsettled. When I stepped outside,Thorne raised an eyebrow. “ Everything okay?” “ Yeah, “ I said, slipping my phone into my pocket. But as we walked back toward the car, my mind wasn't on groceries anymore. It was how complicated my life has become. And now even hiding couldn't keep temptation. Oh lol. By the time we got back to the mansion, the sky had already begun to darken. The gates slid shut behind us with a quiet finality that made my chest tighten—safe, hidden, sealed away from the world. Thorne walked me inside and nodded once. “ I'll be outside, he said. “ If you need anything.” “ Thank you,” I replied sincerely. I went upstairs to the room Duncan had given me. It still didn't feel real that this place- this massive, silent mansion- was where I was supposed to be for now. Duncan made me feel safe, he made me feel loved. Or was it all about s*x. Talking about s*x, my cheeks burned. I went to the grocery bag I brought, I bought a night gown. A sexy one. I had my shower and changed into that. This night, I was going to allow him f**k me badly. I was going to allow him f**k my p***y, I was going to ride on him, suck his d**k. The thought of all these made me wet. I couldn't wait til he get back. I sat on the edge of the bed. Then, my phone buzzed in my hand. Unknown number.
