~ Iris POV I told myself I was strong. I told myself this was temporary. I told myself it was worth it. Lies, stacked on top of each other, just to keep breathing. Eunice kept her word. The ambush was postponed. Not canceled, never canceled, but pushed back, dates shifted, plans blurred just enough to buy time. Time I clung to like a lifeline. But the cost was me. Everything about it was cold. Calculated. There was no affection, no illusion of intimacy. Eunice treated me like a possession she had finally claimed after years of wanting. She spoke to me like I was beneath her, like this was my punishment for daring to exist where she couldn’t control me. I learned how to disappear inside myself. I learned how to keep my face still, my voice quiet, my thoughts far away. I learned how to endure. Afterward, she would sit back, satisfied, triumphant, as if every moment proved something to herself she’d been desperate to believe. “You should be grateful,” she once said, adjusting her clothes. “You’re saving an Alpha.” That was how she justified it. That was how I survived it. And still, every night, I planned. I watched her movements. I memorized her routines. I searched for cracks, anything that could expose her without igniting the bomb she’d already built. I needed proof. Leverage. Something final. Because I couldn’t do this forever. And Duncan… Duncan was starting to notice. Duncan’s eyes lingered on me longer these days. He noticed the way I flinched when touched unexpectedly. The way my scent shifted, fear threading through it, sharp and wrong. The way I avoided being alone with him, even though the bond between us screamed for closeness. “You’re not okay,” he said one night, low and certain. I lied. “I’m just tired.” He didn’t believe me. I could see it in the tension of his jaw, the restraint in his hands. Alphas didn’t miss things like this. And Duncan had never missed me. Eunice noticed his suspicion too. She started tightening her grip, reminding me,subtly, cruelly, what would happen if I slipped. “One word,” she warned softly once, her voice near my ear, “and I finish what we started.” So I stayed silent. Every smile I gave Alice felt like a betrayal. Every time she talked about the future, about graduation, about us, guilt burned through me like acid. I was rotting from the inside out, keeping everyone alive while losing myself piece by piece. I just needed one more opening. One mistake from Eunice. One moment of carelessness. Eunice had called me to the office. Their main house. She was under my thighs, licking my Clint and pressing my boobs at the same time, pinching my n*****s. I groaned in pain. “ f**k! Iris you sweet.” She said.” So, this is what my brother, my niece, the girls have being enjoying. Now I've got you iris, Ive f*****g got you.” She climbed me as she devoured my lips. I didn't kiss her back, years rolled down my eyes, I was thinking about Duncan and Alice. Yes, Alive and I must have broken up, but it was too bad, cause I knew if she ever found out about I and her dad, cause that's what Eunice is using to threaten me. She will be heart broken. “ Why are you crying iris ?” She asked, kissing my neck. I didn't answer. Then 30 mins later, I didn’t hear Duncan approach. I was numb by then. My mind floated somewhere far away, clinging to nothing, just waiting for it to be over. Then… The door opened. Hard. The air shifted instantly. Alpha presence slammed into the room, thick and violent, like the world itself had gone still. “Iris.” My name. I froze. I knew that voice. Duncan! Eunice turned slowly, irritation flashing across her face, until she saw him. Duncan stood in the doorway, eyes locked on the scene before him. Not confusion. Not surprise. Recognition. Understanding hit him all at once, brutal and absolute. His gaze snapped from Eunice to me, taking in my posture, my expression, the way my body wasn’t there, wasn’t choosing this. The bond between us screamed. “Iris,” he said again, this time rough, broken. “What did she do to you?” Eunice laughed softly, standing as if she hadn’t just been unmasked. “Careful, brother. You wouldn’t want to misunderstand.” Duncan moved. In one step he was across the room, fury rolling off him in lethal waves. Not at me. Never at me. At her. “What have you done?” he demanded, voice low enough to shake the walls. Eunice smiled, but there was something frantic behind it now. “She came to me,” she said smoothly. “She begged.” My throat closed. Tears spilled before I could stop them. “I did it to save you,” I whispered. “I didn’t know how else…. It's not what you think.” Duncan’s face shattered. The office felt too small for the rage building inside him, for the betrayal, for the horror of realizing how deep this went. His sister. His mate. His silence. Eunice took a step back for the first time. And I knew…she was scared. I saw the exact moment something inside Duncan snapped. Not cracked. Snapped. The air thickened, pressing against my lungs. His wolf surged forward, raw, territorial, furious. Power rippled through the room in violent waves, rattling the windows. “Duncan,” I breathed. But he was already moving. In a blur, he had Eunice by the throat. Her back slammed against the wall, wood splintering behind her. His hand wrapped around her neck, not tight enough to kill.. But close. Very close. “You think,” he said, voice no longer fully human, “that you can touch what is mine?” Eunice clawed at his wrist, shock finally breaking through her composure. “She chose..” “She was coerced.” The word shook the room. His grip tightened. I saw it in his eyes. He wasn’t seeing his sister anymore. He was seeing a threat. A traitor. An enemy of the pack. “ You dare sleep with my mate?” He asked. She coughed, “ you want to kill your blood because of a mere omega.” He looked down,” Our parents will be so disappointed and ashamed of you. You are not qualified to be an Alpha.” “I don't care, shes my mate.” He said. “ Then ask her why she chose me?” She said. I didnt choose her. He looked at me, then back to eunice before releasing her. “ Follow me !” He ordered.
