~iris pov I didn’t hear Ky leave. One minute she was sprawled on her bed scrolling through her phone, the next the room was quiet again, the kind of quiet that pressed in on your thoughts. I sat there longer than I meant to, staring at the wall, replaying the morning in pieces I didn’t want to touch. I told Alice it was Eunice. That lie still tasted bitter. I told myself it was kinder that way. Easier. Safer. A problem with a villain everyone already hated instead of the messier truth, that some ghosts didn’t stay gone just because time passed. Why the f**k was he back? I was still sitting there when the door creaked open. “Close your eyes,” Ky said. I frowned. “What?” “Eyes. Closed.” I sighed but did it anyway. I trusted Ky. That part came easy. I heard movement. Soft shuffling. A click. Then another. “Okay,” she said. “You can look now.” When I opened my eyes, my breath caught before I could stop it. The room had changed. Fairy lights traced the wall like constellations. Candles glowed on the desk, casting soft shadows. Two plates sat neatly side by side, steam curling faintly into the air. It was warm. Intentional. Careful. For a second, I couldn’t speak. “This is…” My voice came out rough. “Ky.” She scratched the back of her neck, suddenly shy. “You didn’t want to go out. So I figured… we could stay in. Make our own thing.” Something tightened in my chest. She thought I just didn’t want the party. She had no idea I was running from myself. “You didn’t have to do this,” I said. “I wanted to,” she replied simply. That did something to me. We sat down together, knees brushing. The food tasted better than it should have. Or maybe it was just the effort behind it. The way she kept glancing at me like she was checking if I was really there. “You’ve been quiet today,” she said gently. “I’m tired,” I said, which wasn’t a lie. Just not the whole truth. She nodded, accepting it without digging. Ky never pried. That was part of what made her dangerous in the best way.she trusted me to come to her on my own. I didn’t deserve that trust tonight. As we ate, I watched her laugh softly at something on her phone, the candlelight catching in her eyes. And guilt crept in again, slow and heavy. Not because I wanted someone else. But because I knew what I was capable of when the past stood too close. I leaned back in my chair, closing my eyes briefly. I told Alice I was scared of Eunice. I wasn’t. I would never. I was scared of familiarity. Of how easy it was for old habits to wake up. Of how betrayal didn’t always kill affection,it just poisoned it. I'm changed now. Ky reached for my hand, grounding me. “You okay?” she asked. “Yeah,” I said quickly. Then softer, “I am. Just… thank you.” “For what?” “For staying,” I said. She smiled. “Where else would I be?” That almost broke me. After dinner, she pulled me gently onto her bed, wrapping the blanket around us both. Nothing rushed. Nothing expected. Just closeness. Her head rested on my shoulder. Her breathing evened out. I stared at the ceiling again, but this time it didn’t feel like I was falling. I wouldn’t tell her why I couldn’t go. Not tonight. Maybe not ever. Because some truths weren’t ready to be spoken. Ky’s breathing slowed beside me, steady and warm, her head resting against my shoulder like it belonged there. The fairy lights hummed softly, throwing gold across the ceiling, across her face, across everything I didn’t want to lose. I turned my head just enough to look at her. She was half-asleep. Vulnerable. Unaware of the storm I’d spent all day holding back. And that was when it hit me,the sharp, aching contrast. She wasn’t pulling at me. She wasn’t demanding anything. She wasn’t testing boundaries or stirring old scars. She was just… here. My fingers lifted on their own, brushing a loose strand of hair away from her face. She stirred slightly, eyes fluttering open. “Iris?” she murmured. “Hey,” I whispered. Her lips curved into a small, sleepy smile. “You okay?” I nodded, even though my chest felt too full. “Yeah. Just… needed a second.” She shifted closer, instinctive, like my answer was enough. Like she trusted me to tell the truth when I was ready. That trust snapped something inside me. I leaned in before I could overthink it. The kiss was slow. Soft. Careful,at first. Just my lips pressing to hers, a question more than a statement. She answered immediately. OMG! I'm kissing ky. Ky’s hand came up to my jaw, warm and grounding, pulling me closer without urgency, without expectation. The kiss deepened naturally, not rushed, not desperate, just honest. I felt myself melt into it. Into her. “Thank you” I said to her. This was the third time I was saying thank you. “ Iris…don't ever say that, anything for you.” I kissed her again, deeper this time, not frantic, not reckless. Just full. Like I was pouring everything I couldn’t say into the space between us. Her arms wrapped around me, pulling me down with her as we sank into the bed, the lights blurring at the edges of my vision. I climbed on top of her, as we kissed. God what was I doing? I didn't go for the party, because I felt like I will cheat on Alice. Now here I am. I slid my hand down to her panties, she moaned. “ Iris.” She called. “shsh…” I said, touching her lips. She squeezed my ass. f**k! “ Iris! Iris! “ She said, and I rolled over. “Not tonight!” I nodded embarrassed. I heard her sigh, like cursing herself for stopping herslef. Was this going to change alot of things now ?
