She had nothing else to say to Kane–nothing good, at least–so she turned to James. “I’ll see you out.”
James gave Kane a perfunctory nod and followed Cynthia around to the front of the house.
“Sorry about that,” she apologised. It seemed that every time they ran into Kane together, the interaction was often hostile and, for Cynthia, embarrassing.
