After leaving work, Cynthia went to pick up Chloe from school. She found her daughter sitting on a bench in front of the school, where students often waited for their parents. Chloe's hair was messy, and her lips were set in a pout.
Cynthia hurried to her and squatted in front of her. “Hey, baby. You didn't wait long, did you?”
Chloe shook her head. She dropped the pout, but she was still visibly upset.
“What's wrong?”
