As soon as Cynthia alighted from the car in front of her house, she was welcomed by a piercing scream. Recognising Chloe’s voice, her heart dropped to her stomach. Following the sound, she sprinted around the back of the house.
She appeared in the backyard just in time to see Aurelia push Chloe to the ground. Chloe’s screams tore through the air. Cynthia pushed Aurelia out of the way and fell to her knees next to her daughter, gathering her in her arms. “What are you doing?”
