When Kane and Justin got back to the house, they found Aurelia waiting.
“Where have you been?” Aurelia asked, watching curiously as the staff brought Kane’s stuff into the house. “I didn't know you were travelling.” When Kane said nothing, she turned to Justin. “Where's Harry?”
“At Mommy's,” he replied.
“Oh,” she mumbled. Kane walked past her, and she caught Cynthia's scent. She swallowed. “So that's where you've been.”
“Daddy, I want to go to sleep,” Justin said.
“You haven't eaten dinner yet,” Kane reminded him.
“What do you want to eat?” Aurelia chipped in. “I’ll make it for you.”
“No, thanks,” Justin said.
That set her back…he had never refused her food offer before. “Do you want to order takeout instead?”
“Mommy will send some over for me,” he said.
