Cynthia pushed the door open and marched into the room. Aurelia was lying on the bed with Kane sitting on the edge and holding her arm while massaging a balm onto her wrist.
The two looked up in surprise as Cynthia walked into the room.
Cynthia ran her eyes over her sister, looking for signs of injury. “Aren't you tired of this act?”
Aurelia looked at Kane. “What is she doing here?”
“My sister almost took her life for the hundredth time,” Cynthia said, “how can I not check up on her?”
“What are you talking about?” Aurelia snapped. “I tripped and fell down the stairs. It was an accident.”
“That's new,” Cynthia said. “Did you break anything?”
“Kane, how can you let her treat me like this?” Aurelia demanded. She was supposed to have Kane all to herself.
