About half an hour later, Kane joined Cynthia in the waiting room. Cynthia had hardly taken her eyes away from the direction Chloe had been taken, waiting for an update.
“She’ll be alright,” Kane reassured her, handing her a bottle of water. “Here.”
She accepted the bottle and took a few sips. “Thank you. For everything. If it wasn’t for your help, I don’t know…”
She trailed off as her throat tightened. They had arrived at a critical moment. Had they been even a minute later, it was hard to say whether Chloe would have survived. Getting to her on time was all thanks to Kane’s efforts.
