Chapter 4

320 Words
The next day, Jane decided to leave. She had barely taken a few steps when a ball came flying straight at her head. Staggering from the pain, she heard children's taunts and laughter around her. "i***t! Moron! Too stupid to even dodge a ball—you deserved that!" Seeing the child she had carried for ten months and risked her life to give birth to now pointing accusing fingers at her, a whirlwind of emotions raged inside her, yet she could not utter a single word. "You knew it?" Jane looked up to hear a mocking laugh. "These kids... they're your mirror image. How could I miss it? I just wonder—hearing your own children call another woman 'Mommy'—that can't be pleasing, can it?" Jane gave her a cold glance, then hurled the chili water back at her. The children who hated her, the man she'd once loved—she wanted none of them. But as she reached the bottom of the stairs, the servants moved as one to block her path. "What are you trying to do?"
