Chapter 12

2242 Words
*Trigger warning .This chapter talks about domestic violence and rape.* Everything happened so fast. Jake was out of his chair barking orders and I was right behind him ready to fight for my mate and the pack. I would have to tell him my decision after we win this fight. “Who’s attacking us,” Jake yells at Brian. “The Jade Claw pack,” Brian growls. Jake curses under his breath. “That’s not all,” Brian continued. “Their Alpha is here.” “Why would Jade Claw attack you,” I ask, looking at Jake. “And why is the Alpha here leading the attack?” “I honestly don’t know,” Jake growls. “Jade Claw’s Alpha is known to be absolutely ruthless and heartless.” I nod my head and follow them out of the packhouse. As soon as we are outside, Derek and Vic join us. “Alpha Jake,” Derek growls. “Vic and I wanna help.” Jake nods before turning and shifting into his wolf. He takes off and the rest of us shift and follow him. It isn’t long before we hear the growls and snarls that signal a fight. When we arrive, I am shocked because it looks like a blood bath. I quickly shake it off and pounce on the nearest wolf and lock my jaws onto its neck. It yelps and tries to buck and shake me off but I just clamp my jaw harder holding on. Finally it tries to roll but I jump off and launch into another attack. I rake my claws across its shoulder and ram into them, causing them to go flying into Grain, Brian’s wolf. He trunks and snarls and finishes off the other wolf. I am looking for another wolf to tear apart and my eyes land on one. Except he isn’t fighting anyone and is staring straight at me. I stare back in confusion. This wolf looks like me except where I am white he is black and they have white paws. I am in complete shock. I am still staring when a wolf slams into me trying to get at my throat. I continue to roll to try and get on top but when I can’t, the wolf who pinned me is knocked off me and when I look to see who it is my eyes widen. It’s the wolf who looks like the opposite of me. The black and white wolf quickly rips apart the wolf. I stare confused since they were from the same pack. The wolf who saved me looks over at me and growls so loud it stops the fighting. The wolf snarls at me and stalks toward me. I can clearly see how big this wolf is. He is clearly an Alpha. I searched my brain for the name of the Jade Claw’s Alpha. Before I can think of it Jake’s wolf jumps in front of me as well as Derek and Vic. They snarl at the other Alpha. He stops stalking toward me and growls. They all stare at each other. Jade Claw’s Alpha snaps his jaws and slowly turns bounding away. The rest of his wolves follow. Before he disappears he turns and looks at me. He gives me a wolfy grin, like he’s promising we will meet again, then turns and disappears. Jake’s POV After all the Jade Claw wolves are gone I mind link everyone to head back to the packhouse. I nudge Lani and when she looks at me, I nod my head toward the pack house. She nods her head in understanding. Her eyes cloud over as she mindlinks Victor and Alpha Derek. When her eyes clear up we take off toward the house. When we get there a few of my warriors are there with clothes for us to shift back in. Lani takes the clothes that are for her and walks over behind the tree. I shift back, not taking my eyes off where she disappeared, I quickly get dressed and watch as Lani comes back in shorts and a shirt. I sigh in relief when I see she is alright. “Someone want to explain why the f**k the Alpha of Jade Claw looks like the yin version of me,” she asks furiously. Something flashes across Alpha Derek’s face before he quickly covers it up. He clearly doesn’t do it fast enough because Lani catches it and growls menacingly. “Alpha Jake,” Alpha Derek said, taking a small step away from Lani. “Maybe we should take this to your office.” I nod my head, confused about why he is afraid of Lani. We walk back to my office and I take a seat at my desk. Victor and Alpha Derek take a seat while Brian and Lani stand. Lani is standing beside my desk with her arms crossed, glaring at Alpha Derek. He looks at me and pretends not to notice and clears his throat. “Explain,” Lani growls. “Now, Derek.” I shoot Lani a frown at how she addresses her alpha. I shake my head and look back at Alpha Derek, who clears his throat. “His name is Alpha Azazel,” Derek explains. “He is one of the most ruthless and heartless Alpha’s there is. He runs a pack filled with cruel wolves. About 19 years ago I heard father talking to his Beta about him. Azazel had just taken over his pack and he was already making a name for himself. He had found his mate. Now the rumor is that Alpha Azazel kidnapped his mate after he found her.” Alpha Derek glances at Lani, who is staring at him. He takes a deep breath before turning back to me and continues. “Azazel kept her under lock and key. Nobody knew who she was just that she was a she-wolf from another pack,” he closes his eyes, as if the next part pained him. “Word had gotten out that he was beating and rapping her but nobody could confirm so there was no investigation. Well fast forward about 6 months and the new word was that his mate gave birth to a little girl. Now when the baby was a few months old, she took the baby and ran away from Azazel.” Alpha Derek opens his eyes and looks right at Lani. His eyes are full of sorrow and pain. I glance at Lani and see she has unshed tears in her eyes. Her hands are shaking. I stand up and grab her hand, pulling her onto my lap. I expect her to resist and to my surprise she doesn’t and she curls up on my lap. I rub her back to try and soothe her. “He was so furious he went after them himself,” Alpha Derek said. “The rumor was, when he caught up to her, he killed her and the baby for running away. I thought the rumor was true until I saw you two years ago because you looked so much like him. I have never seen his wolf, so when you shifted for the first time the thought left my mind. I didn’t make the connection until today when I saw his wolf and I know some wolves mirror that of their parents. It is very rare but it does happen. Lani, I am so sorry I should have told you my suspicions sooner.” Lani is shaking in my arms. My arms tighten around her. I thought she was shaking because she was crying so hard. I was wrong. I was so very wrong. She was pissed. No, she was beyond pissed. She was absolutely livid. She yanked herself off my lap and she started pacing, her fists clenched. Alpha Derek and Victor both flinched, fear clear in their eyes. “Are you telling me,” Lani growls, slowly. “That Alpha Azazel is my father. Are you f*****g telling me that my f*****g father beat, r***d, and killed my mother.” She stopped pacing and turned her burning gaze onto Alpha Derek. He looks away and nods. “You f*****g suspected,” she said, scarily calm. “You suspected the identity of my father and you didn’t tell me.” Alpha Derek quickly stands up and puts his hands up in defense. “Lani-,” he starts. Lani launches herself at him before he can finish. Her claws are out and she is snarling. “You f*****g bastard,” she spits. “You f*****g kept this from me.” Lani is full on attacking Alpha Derek and he is trying to block her attacks. She gets a few hits in and Victor is trying to pull her off him but she quickly turns on him. She throws and punches at Victor’s face and there is a loud crunch as her fist connects with his nose. I quickly hop to my feet and tackle Lani when she turns her attention back to Alpha Derek. “Lani,” I yell. “Baby, calm down.” She is snarling and screaming profanities at me as she tries to break free from under me. I don’t know what else to do so I dip my head and kiss her. When my lips meet hers, she freezes and sparks explode from the contact instantly making me hard. I let my tongue snake out and graze her bottom lip. She gasps and I take that moment to slip my tongue into her mouth and when my tongue touches hers, she moans. I pour all my emotions into the kiss. All the love and sorrow that I feel. I break the kiss and I look at her. Her face is flushed and I can smell her arousal. I grin at her. “Are you gonna attack your alpha again if I let you go,” I ask her, smirking at her flushed cheeks. She shakes her head and I slowly get off her and stand. I hold my hand out to her to help her up. She takes my hand and when she stands she doesn’t let go. I smile at her before turning to Alpha Derek and Victor. I can’t help but be proud of my mate when I see Victor's nose. It’s crooked, clearly broken, and pouring blood. Alpha Derek's cheek is bruised as well as his eye. Lani see’s the damage and gasps. “Alpha,” she gasps. “Victor. I am so sorry for attacking you two. I don’t know what came over me.” She starts to cry and she bows her head. “Lani,” Alpha Derek calmly says. “It is okay. I shouldn’t have kept my suspicions from you about your parents. You were angry. It is perfectly fine. I am not gonna punish you for something that I caused.” Lani nods her head but doesn’t say anything. Victor just grunts and I turn to Brian. “Brian,” I said, trying to hide a smile. “Why don’t you take Victor to the hospital to get his nose set before it heals wrong.” Brian nods his head and guides Victor to the door. “I will accompany you,” Alpha Derek said. They leave and close the door and I turn to my mate who is still staring at the ground. Lani’s POV I can’t believe I attacked Alpha Derek and Victor. What the hell was wrong with me. I was pissed at Derek but I shouldn’t have attacked him the way I did. “Lani,” Jake said softly. “Are you alright?” “I attacked my Alpha,” I answered, looking up at him. “I shouldn’t have attacked him. No matter how pissed I was, I should have never done that. I shouldn’t have attacked Vic either.” “It’s okay,” Jake said. “Alpha Derek isn’t mad. He said so himself. But you are right you shouldn’t have attacked him.” I bow my head again. “As for Victor,” Jake continues. “I am not sorry you punched him. I have been waiting to do that for a while. I am surprised at how strong you are to take down an Alpha. I can’t help but be proud of how strong my mate is. You are gonna be a Luna to be reckoned with. I am proud you are my mate, Lani.” My eyes snap up to see Jake smiling at me, adoration and love clear in his beautiful green eyes. I smile back at him. I realize that right then that I know I can forgive him for everything. I was willing to give him a shot now more than ever. I have to tell him my decision but I want to do it in a special way. I will have to talk to Alicia to brainstorm some ideas.
