A Mate That was Lost

Chapter 15

Azazel’s POV

I slam into my office. I walk over and pick up one of my chairs in front of my dest and throw it across the room, shattering it against the wall. It wasn’t long until I had my office completely destroyed. I stand in the middle of my office breathing hard as I survey the damage. Someone knocks on my door and my head snaps over and I glare at the door. The knocking continues.

“What,” I snapped.

The door opens and reveals my beta, Joseph. He raises and eyebrow at the damage he sees.

“Alpha,” he said, calmly.

“She was there,” I growled. “My daughter was there. I thought she died. When I found my b***h of a mate she didn’t have my daughter. I thought she hid her in the f*****g woods and when I couldn’t find her, after months of searching, I thought she died.”

“What do you want to do,” Joseph said, still as calm as ever.

“She belongs to me,” I snarled. “She is the future of this pack. She belongs here.”

“What if she doesn’t come with us,” he asked.

I smiled at the thought of a fight.

“She will come,” I said, slowly. “If she doesn’t, then I will bring her here by force. SHe will come back with me whether she likes it or not.”

Joseph nods his head in understanding. I chuckle softly.

“Joseph,” I said, still smiling. “Get a couple warriors ready. We are going to the Silver Lake pack to get my daughter back.”

Jake’s POV

I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. I groaned and rolled over. My chest brushes something soft and my eyes pop open. I look at what is in front of me smiling. Lani is sleeping in front of me, facing me, and she is naked. My eyes travel over her soft skin and my eyes widen as the memories of last night come flooding back.

I lift my hand and gently trace my fingers over her soft skin. Goddess, she’s even more beautiful when she is asleep. Her face and body are completely relaxed, her lips are slightly parted, and her dark eyelashes frame her cheeks. I slide my hand down further causing her to shiver and groan. She starts to stir, blinking rapidly until her eyes focus. Her eyes look up into mine and I am trapped in her gaze. Her beautiful eyes are shining.

“Good morning,” Lani whispers, smiling.

“Good morning, love,” I whispered back.

Lani’s cheeks start to redden and her eyes go wide and I can see the events of last night flashing through her mind. I grin down at her. I open my mouth to say something but am interrupted by a mindlink from Brian.

“Jake,” Brian said. “You need to get to your office and bring Lani. Now”

Brian ends the mindlink and I groan. I give Lani a swift kiss before getting up out of bed.

“We need to get dressed,” I said. “Brian needs us in my office.”

Lani jumps up and walks into the bathroom. I pop my head in to let her know that I need to stop by my room and that I’ll come back to pick her up. I walk quickly to my room and head straight to my bathroom and brush my teeth. I quickly change into some jeans and a black button up shirt and slip on some shoes and then I am out the door again heading back to Lani’s room. I am just getting to her door when she walks out. I hold out my hand to her.

“Ready,” I asked.

She nods and we walk upstairs to my office. When we get to my office I walk in first and freeze at the sight. There standing in my office are two warriors that are not from my back, Brian and his mate, another man whom I assume is a Beta, and Alpha Azazel. Alpha Azazel is smiling, in a creepy kind of way.

“Jake what’s-,” Lani stops mid sentence when she sees everyone.

Her gaze travels around the room landing on Alpha Azazel. She tenses and I look over to see he is already watching her with a sick grin on his face.

“Alpha Jake,” he said, not taking his eyes off Lani. “We have a lot to discuss.”

My grip tightens around Lani’s and I nod my head. I guide Lani to Brian and he nods at me understanding that I want him to watch Lani. I turn and sit down at my desk.

“To what do I owe this pleasure, Alpha Azazel,” I said, coolly.

“Cut the s**t, Alpha Jake,” Alpha Azazel, growls turning his gaze to me. “You know why I am here. I want my daughter.”

Lani’s POV

This is not how I wanted today to go. I was supposed to wake up in Jake’s arms and we were supposed to spend the day together. In bed. Not here in his office with Alpha Azazel. I knew exactly who he was as soon as my eyes landed on him. I looked a lot like him. I have always wondered who my parents were and here one of them is sitting in front of my mate saying he wants me.

“She is a grown woman,” Jake said, calmly.

“She is also my daughter,” Alpha Azazel snapped. “She belongs to me. She is the future Alpha of the Jade Claw pack.”

“She doesn’t belong to you,” Jake growled back.

“Yes she does,” Alpha Azazel growled. “She is mine.”

When he said that I snapped. This b***h doesn’t belong to anybody let alone a psycho who is so heartless he killed his own mate.

“Excuse me,” I growl, making everyone’s head snap toward me. “I don’t recall being an object for anyone to claim. Last I check I was a f*****g person.”

“You’re my daughter,” Alpha Azazel snarls.

“I didn’t f*****g ask to be,” I snarled back. “Last I checked I was a Simmons, not hwo ever the f**k you are.”

“I am your father,” he growled. “You are my blood. The future Alpha of my pack.”

“I don’t want to be Alpha to your pack of murders,” I yelled, Jake flinches. “I don’t want anything to do with you. You guys are ruthless, heartless f*****g murderers and you are the worst of them. You r***d, beat, and killed your own mate, my f*****g mother!”

At that last bit I was shrieking and Brian had to put his hand on my shoulder to hold me back. Alpha Azazel just sat there staring at me while I laid into him.

“She ran from me taking my heir with her,” he shrugged. “She had to be punished. Besides she wasn’t that great of a lay.”

He smiles evilly at that last bit. I growl which causes the room to shake. Brian and Jake look at me surprised.

“You are a f*****g monster,” I growled.

“Well,” Alpha Azazel shrugged. “I may be a monster but at least I am alive.”

“You mother fucker,” I growled, shaking.

I am not stupid, I knew he was baiting me and I was falling for it. He laughed and stood up, looking me straight in the eye.

“That’s right,” he said, softly and slowly. “I f****d your mother and she screamed out. She screamed so loud as she realized she couldn’t do anything to stop me from taking her over and over again.”

I shrieked as I launched myself at him. My claws were extended. I was too fast and was on him before Brian or Jake could stop me. I slashed my hand down across and I raised my other hand to s***h him again but this time he grabbed my wrist. He flipped me over and I landed gasping as the wind was knocked out of me. He raised his fist to punch me but I moved my head and dodged. I growled and kicked my foot up as hard as I could into his side. He grunted and winced. I took the opportunity and rolled backward kicking my foot out again toward his face. It connects again and there is a sickening crunch. I get to my feet and see Alpha Azazel holding his jaw looking up at me. 

I glare and launch myself at him again but someone grabs me mid lunge. The sparks I feel tell me it’s Jake. I struggle against his hold, screaming. I feel his lips against my ear.

“Lani,” Jake whispers. “Calm down.”

When I continue to struggle he turns me around and hugs me. His scent fills my nose and I instantly calm down, breathing deeply.

“You are a strong and feisty one,” Alpha Azazel slurs, laughing. “You will make an excellent Alpha. Now it’s time to go so go pack your things.”

I clearly broke his jaw and he is laughing. I looked over at him and glared, narrowing my eyes.

“You are insane if you think I am going with you,” I growl. “I am not going anywhere with a f*****g psycho like you.”

He stands up smiling. When I don’t move his smile drops from his face and he narrows his eyes.

“You will come with me,” he growled. “One way or another, you will come with me.”

“I think it’s best you left,” Jake said, turning to Alpha Azazel.

Alpha Azazel didn’t take his eyes off me. He shows no sign of moving.

“Get off my territory,” Jake growled. “Now.”

Alpha Azazel’s eyes snap to Jake and he bares his teeth. He doesn’t say anything and stands back up and nods his head toward his pack members and they walk out. Before Alpha Azazel leaves he looks back at us and snaps his teeth before turning on his heel and walking out, slamming the door.

“Umm...,” Brian said, after a minute of silence. “Damn, Lani. I knew you could kick ass but I didn’t know you could kick ass like that.”

I turn my gaze onto Brian and Jake starts to laugh. Brian and Alicia join in and pretty soon we are all laughing.

“I’m sorry,” I said, sheepishly. “I really lost it back there.”

“It’s okay, love,” Jake said, reassuringly. “He deserved it. He baited you without knowing who he was messing with.”

There is a long pause as we all calm down.

“Jake,” Brian said, breaking the silence again. “You know he is going to come back for her.”

Jake and I lock eyes and I can see the worry clear on his face.

“I know,” Jake said. “We will be ready when he does.”
