He was concerned about the rifle shot which had killed Gant. It was not an easy shot. It was not from a terribly long distance from what he had heard. He thought a shot of three hundred to five hundred yards was not any big deal. But if Porfy could shoot well enough and was good enough at concealment and escape to get away from the Gant shooting, it was something to think about. It also meant extra vigilance in every day events. He began to be much more careful about his habits. He drove to work on different streets every day. He circled the station to see if there were any vehicles he didn't recognize or which had been hanging around in recent days. He wore his vest and parked as close to the entry door to his headquarters as he could. He rushed from his car into the door of the station.
