In another time and place, or so it seemed, Jim and the homicide detectives of the Phoenix P.D. had devised a scheme to try and identify a serial killer. The scheme had grown to be a tremendously successful series of events beneficial to the widows and families of deceased officers who died in the line of duty. It was simply referred to as the Police Olympics. Held annually it drew thousands of officers from all over the state to take part in many different types of sporting events. Jim Cade participated very successfully in full contact martial arts events in the Police Olympics in its early years. But he had become what he thought to be too old to participate in full contact
