Intertwined souls

The introduction

I took a deep breath and followed back inside of the large doors into the Aquarium. I had decided that what I had seen earlier wasn't important and I didn’t need to dwell on it but it still made me feel like I needed to run for the hills. When I was talking to Nia about it, I felt like all I could do was panic, but as soon as I said something to Blake, I wasn't scared anymore and I felt like it would be okay. I felt a wave of calm wash over me when he held me and I needed to get over it.

I followed Blake as he walked to the front desk and he started to introduce himself as she looked down and said ‘Yes Alpha’ and led us into the room where everyone was. I had heard someone call him that before, but the first time I didn't care enough to think about it. This time something felt different. I didn't know what it meant or why they called him that, but I felt like it was something serious and important.

“ Alpha? Is there something I'm missing? Like a joke Or..” I trailed off not really knowing how I planned on finishing it, but instead I decided to joke with him-

“ Should I be calling you Alpha?” I nudged him and tried to laugh, but instead, it came out more like a snort.

“I would never want you to call me your alpha”, He turned to me but as he started to speak again, Noah ran up to us interrupting him.

We said our hellos and he introduced me to his sister, Kayla, her kids and husband. Then we said hi to his father and another man who seemed to be following him everywhere like a bodyguard.

“ You made it!” I heard from behind us. I turned around to see a shorter man with blonde hair, and dark blue eyes, caring a child, who seemed to be around the same as Noah. He met my look and placed one of his hands out to shake mine.

“ Of course I did, it's for my son” Blake rolled his eyes but was laughing, I shook his hands and introduced myself.

“ I’ve heard a lot about you, Octavia. I’m happy to finally meet you! I’m Josh. Blake’s right-hand man. He could get anything done without me.” He stated, laughing, his eyes were soft even with their piercing color. His hands were soft and, for whatever reason, my heart was telling me that I could trust him.

After meeting a few people, we walked through the aquarium, Blake and I holding each other's hands and stopped each time the kids did. His sister was walking beside me talking about how she wanted to take me around town and show me all the ‘good’ spots.

“ That would be so fun” I said, not committing to anything. I enjoyed spending time with people and I did want to get to know her, but at the same time, I have a very small social battery. And I felt like this party might take weeks for my battery to recover.

“ I can get your address from Blake and how about I pick you up next Friday??” She said, grabbing my forearm and squeezing. “ We can leave Blake with the kids” She looked away for a few minutes not realizing that I still had not said anything. A few seconds later she stopped walking and looked at me with her eyes, and mouth, wide open.

“ Oh my god unless” she paused again studying me, and then giggled as she said

“ You’re staying with Blake already, then I’ll just pick you up at like 1?” she said

I could tell she was testing me, But I wasn't staying with Blake, unless he told her that I stayed with him last night. How do I answer? That was only one night, and not only that, I don't know her, it's none of her business.

“ No, I’m not staying with Blake, can I meet you there?” I decided not to tell her where I live because I had a feeling she would definitely show up unannounced. I mean, she seemed nice enough, but she was already overwhelming me. She reminded me of Nia back home. I loved her with all my whole heart, but sometimes she was just a little too much. I enjoyed more peaceful people like Blake. His peaceful presence never overwhelmed me, It helped me keep myself grounded.

At one point I had broken off from Blake and drifted off on my own. I had found the stingray that the kids had somehow missed. I sat with my hand in the water, running up and down the stingray's back. I sat in silence, the StingRay's back felt like wet sand paper as I ran my hands up and down. It stayed still and I felt a presence behind me, and although I couldn't see who it was, I knew it was Blake. His cologne filled the room and His presence carried its own weight. He walked up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head on my shoulder, pushing my hips against the exhibit.

“ Hi love”. He said into my ear “ How are you doing? I know it’s a lot.”

I continued petting the animal and leaned into him, taking a deep breath.

“ I’m good, I love your family, they're sweet.” I turned to face him and smiled, saying “ I can tell they all love you, the way they look at you speaks for itself."

He smiled, placing a small, quick kiss on my lips, then grabbed my hand.

“ I love them a lot too, they’ve done a lot for me.” he laughed and led me back to everyone else and asked me if I was ready to go.

“A few people are going to come back to my place, and we're gonna BBQ and hang out there until everyone decides to leave. If you don't want to come, it’s totally fine and I can take you home” He embraced me in a hug and looked down at me waiting for my answer.

“ I’ll come” I whispered “ I’m not quite ready to leave you yet.”

I watched as a big smile spread across his face and he dropped his head back laughing. His laugh made my whole body rumble, and seemed to spread to me being contagious. We shared a few laughs together.

We walked out with everyone and said goodbye to some of the parents that had brought their kids. Josh had brought his niece and nephew but from what I gathered, he was single, he got the kids in his truck and said he would meet us at the house.

Kayla and her family were coming as well, along with Blake's father, and a few more people who Blake worked with. It was mainly everyone who had kids that didn't want to go home yet.

We packed Noah's presents into the back of the truck and headed back to Blake’s house. One of Kayla's kids, Chase, was hitching a ride with us in the truck.

“ Uncle Blake” Chase said as we started driving. Blake looked up through the rearview mirror.

“Hmm?” Blake asked, already amused by little chase.

“ Is she your mate?” Chase had tilted his head, looking back at Blake but pointing at me. His brows were clenched together and his mouth was twisted into a frown of questioning.

“ I don’t know buddy,” Blake said. He shot a sideways glance at me and I watched his eyes turn dark and a devilish smile spread across his face. His smile felt dangerous but I found myself turned on by it.

“ I guess we’ll find out” Blake said back to chase in the back of the truck all while Noah was giggling, to himself.

As if Blake was reading my mind, he took a deep breath and turned to look at me as he cast his eyes down on my legs. Then he rested his hand on the inside of my thigh, squeezing hard. I let my head fall back and let out a deep breath. I couldn't wait to be alone with him again. I had argued so much with myself about having s*x with him. “ Are you laughing at me?”

“ Nah, you just seem frustrated,” he whispered. Cupping his hand to my cheek , leaning over to me, kissing underneath my earlobe. His kisses trailed down to my collar bone, then back up and came back to my ear.

“ I can help” Chills spread across my body when he said it, his voice deep and dangerous. His hand left my cheek and snaked across my body, picking me up and setting me on his lap. He adjusted the seat back and continued his assault on my neck. A moan escaped my mouth as his hand grabbed the bottom of my dress,pulling it up revealing my thong. He broke our kiss and looked down at it smiling.
