"Hello, this is Leon speaking," I replied to Mia, even as I could hear the displeasure in her voice. But listening to her melodic voice made my heart ache with longing for her.
"So, why are you calling me?" Mia asked, sharply. I cleared my throat and replied, "I just wanted to inform you that I will investigate what happened to you, and the culprit will be brought to book. But if it's Veronica, would you like me to punish her on your behalf? Or let her go for the sake of your mother?"
There was silence over the call, before Mia replied, "When you find out who is at fault first. If Veronica isn't punished, she wouldn't stop attacking me. But she is your girlfriend, how am I sure that you will want to punish her?"
