Friday morning arrived with an air of finality.
This was the last day of trial. By tonight, the jury would have heard all the evidence and begun deliberations. By tonight, or perhaps tomorrow, there would be a verdict.
Aria woke early, with her mind already spinning through what today would bring. Justice Yaden had told them yesterday that he'd call a few more witnesses this morning, then rest the prosecution's case. The defense would present their side in the afternoon. Closing arguments would follow. Then the jury would decide Victoria's fate.
"How are you feeling?" Damien asked as they got ready.
"Ready for this to be over," Aria admitted. "Ready for the verdict. Ready to move forward."
"Soon," Damien promised. "Very soon."
