Aria woke to voices. Urgent and scared ones at that. Damien's voice cut through all of them calling to her. "Aria. Baby, please. Open your eyes."
She tried. But her eyelids were so heavy.
"Come on, love. Look at me." Damien's voice was urgent, swinging fully into panic.
Then she managed to open them. And she squinted against the light that hit her eyes in an instant. She then saw Damien's face above her. He was pale and terrified.
Damien breathed, "There you are. Thank God."
She was still on the floor. But it was the bathroom floor, and the cold tile was against her back.
"What happened?" she whispered.
Damien told her, "You fainted. You hit the floor hard. I heard the thud, and I found you unconscious."
Unconscious. She'd fainted.
