From the journal of Marjorie Bruce 17th of June, 1306 I had asked Emmeline about the word that my father had used when he was speaking to Elizabeth. She had said that it meant to be banned from the church, to be labelled as a fugitive who had sinned terribly and to not be welcomed in the church or in Heaven. The excommunicated person was damned. She had asked me why I was questioning her about it, and I told her that I had read it in one of the bishop"s texts. I did not want Emmeline to find out about my father.
