Ever since that drunken night in Ireland, luck had been coming our way. My brothers Thomas and Alexander had successfully raided an English town, and I was awaiting news from them. Many Irishmen had come to pledge their allegiance within a fortnight, most claiming to come of their own accord. News had travelled fast to all corners of Ireland that I was here, and armies were turning up every so often.
With the blessing of King and Queen Ò"Neíll, Jamie and I, along with the nobles and their armies, left Ireland for the first time. The wives of the nobles stayed in the kingdom, although we granted Lord Hector O"Ryan the permission to stay with his wife in her time of need.
