It had been two weeks since I had officially become the wife of Noah. It still felt quite weird to walk around with the huge diamond ring on my finger but I wasn't complaining.
It was gorgeous.
Despite me becoming his wife and the Queen things we're still awkward except it wasn't awkward between Noah and I — it was awkward between me and everyone inside of the palace. I remember seeing the girl who I chatted with in the kitchen that one time and she avoided me as if she did not see me.
It's a different story when Noah is around though. I'm suddenly the girl who deserves nothing but respect.
I had explored the entire palace and I've grown very fond of it, I spent majority of my time in library. There was two librarians inside. There was Candace — very kind and bright — who would instantly greet me as soon as I walked through those doors and then there was Perry. Perry had always made it clear that he hated me, he could not bare to even be in my presence. He would always moan and groan about how he doesn't "fool with my kind" and would sit far away from me.
I had learned to ignore it.
Pushing the door to the library open, I was greeted by Candace who stood on a ladder searching for a book.
"Hi Ororo!" She exclaimed.
"Shut up and keep looking!" Perry yelled from across the room.
"I do not understand why I need to find a book about this," Candace complained. She pulled a book out and tossed it on the floor before climbing down the ladder.
"Thanks," Perry mumbled while grabbing the book and moving towards the back of the library.
"I just came by to say hello to you guys,"
"Did you enjoy that romance novel and told you about?" Candace asked while wiggling her eyebrows.
I chuckled, "I actually did, I do not agree on the ending but we will save that discussion for later!"
"For f***s sake!" Candace exclaimed, "The ending was the best part!"
"You've said your greeting now please leave," Perry said.
"What is your problem with me?" I asked, "I think an explanation is long overdue."
"What makes you think there's a problem?"
"You've made it clear that you do not like my kind but why? Why the prejudice? I know humans have done very terrible things but wolves have too! Don't be a hypocrite and judge,"
Candace stared at Perry with a warning look but Perry ignored it. He stood up carrying the book with him and made his way towards me, "You don't even know what your kind is truly capable of, you're the enemy!"
"We are human!" I yelled. "Your kind is capable of doing a lot more!"
"You are not just a human," Perry revealed. Candace sighed heavily and I watched as she put her head down in disappointment.
"It wasn't your place to tell her," She whispered.
"Tell me what?" I asked.
"Noah wasn't going to tell her and I believe she has a right to know!"
"What the f**k are you talking about?" I asked.
Perry grabbed my wrist before pulling me down into a chair, he slammed the book that he was holding onto the table before pointing at a paragraph.
"You're only half human! The woman who gave birth to you, the woman who clothed you and fed you, the woman that you called your mother was nothing more than a blood sucking vampire!" Perry explained, "She was a powerful one at that!"
"You have it wrong,"
"I have it right! She had you all protected in America while feeding you lies but she didn't care about protection when she and her kind invaded Gideon. We thought we were forming an alliance with them but it was all just a front! They wanted nothing more than to take over Gideon!"
"My mom–" I started but I was cut off by Perry speaking again.
"Your mom made the mistake of falling in love with a human and that is a crime in her world! It is forbidden for a vampire to be with a human. She left and stayed in America to hide and it worked for a few years but once her whereabouts were discovered she had no choice but to return to her Gideon where she would be faced with her punishment — death."
I stared at Candace as she gave me a sad smile.
"Are you telling me what I think you are?"
"The little amount of blood that runs through your veins come from your father. You were born powerful simply because you are the first in history to be half human and half vampire!" Perry revealed, "Then, you come here and marry making history again — becoming the first human or vampire to marry a wolf!"
"We have no problems with humans but it's the vampires that we have an issue with," Candace softly said while sitting in the empty chair next to me, "But because you are the daughter of Jennifer Addair..." She trailed off
"My dad told me that they broke up because she did not want to live the Royal life so did he know what she was?"
Perry laughed loudly, "Jennifer? Did not want to live the Royal life? She told him that to protect her quick little human f**k!"
"Do not disrespect my father!" I exclaimed while jumping up, "He was not her little human f**k, he was a good man! He simply just fell in love with someone! Do not judge him for my mother's mistakes!"
Perry stared at me with an unknown expression on his face before turning around to look at Candace, Candace shrugged.
"I told you that she was different!" She told him, "She is pretty much our last and only hope,"
Perry sighed, "Ororo, Gideon is a big country. Noah has been the King of Gideon for many many years and he's as powerful as you are. He — alongside every other wolf — want Gideon to live in peace. It's those vampires who want nothing to do with us. They want to take the crown and takeover Gideon and there's no telling what damage they could do if they were to achieve their goal. We need them to sign a peace treaty so we can all live in harmony and you're our last hope,"
"This is too much for me to take in," I whispered.
"The future of Gideon is in your hands,"
"There's only one problem," I heard someone say from behind me. I turned around to see Noah leaning against the door frame. He wore slacks and a satin black dress shirt, "She married the enemy, she married me — a wolf. They're feeling betrayed. They want her dead as much as they want me dead,"
