Chapter Four.

When he dropped her of, she noticed her dad's car parked in the other side of the street.

"How nice to see he's suddenly back as soon as his wife calls him" she said

"Want me to go in with you?" Diego asked her.sge shook her head

"it will take only make things worse." She got ur the car.Then turned to him before shutting the door

"Thanks Zed, you're real nice" There was a slight smile on her face. she shut the car door and crossed the street. He didn't leave he waits and listened.

As soon as Michelle entered her father started screaming at her.

"Who was that guy? Where were you?"

Michelle didn't respond.

"I'm talking to you Michelle?" he shouted.

she couldn't hold back

"what do you want from me?" she screamed tears running down her face

"I've tried everything to be the perfect daughter, I never ask for anything. I do as I'm told and you don't even care to know her I'm faring. I'm always looked down in this house and everything I say is a lie. But it didn't bother me. And Raina tells you a lie and you suddenly return home to scold me. You didn't even hear from me.You believe everything they tell you but what about me, aren't I part of your life, aren't I your daughter.i'm done. Once I leave for school tomorrow,it's the last time you'll see me here." she said as she marched upstairs.

"You'd probably go live with your boyfriend?" Raina shouted

"At least he treats me better than any of you" Michelle responded and shut her room door. She laid on her bed crying all night. Her dad came looking for her but she ignored him.

Later that night as she put her stuff together,she heard a knock on her window. she looked and saw a dark figure hovering. she got scared. Her phone beeped at the moment. she looked at it. It was a text from Diego.He told her to open the window. She slowly approached it holding an umbrella in case she was attached. she lifted the blinds and the pushed the window open. He jumped in.She pointed the umbrella at him. He looked surprised

"What are you doing?" He questioned

"in case it was someone who stole your phone and tried to get to me. I was gonna hit him with this"She explained dropping the umbrella.

"Really?" he asked. he was amused.

"what are you doing here and how did you get to the window?" she asked.

"I climbed"he answered.

"How do you climb a storey building." she was not buying it.

"I've got my ways." he said then asked

"You okay?" she knew what he meant.

"yeah I'm good but the sooner I leave this place the better I'll get" she replied.

He handed her a package

"what is this"she asked

"Ice cream" he shrugged."Thought might make you feel better"

she stared at him

"I overheard your argument" he confessed."you kinda poured your heart out."She gave him a warm smile.

"thanks Zed"

"Anytime shortcake. I guess I'll take my leave. Have a safe journey back"And he jumped out the window without warning. Michelle hurried and saw him walk to his car.In less than 3 mins hw had driven off . she unwrapped the ice cream, it was blueberry.she lived blueberry and there was a box of strawberry shortcakes. she smiled.

"what a gentleman" she thought.

Michelle dragged her box downstairs, her family was in the sitting room.

"Where do you think you're going?" Her father asked.

"Back to school,where I'm not treated like trash" she answered aggressively.

"You're going without Sasha?"her father asked.

"She's not a baby,she can find her way" Michelle banged the front door close and walked to her car. After putting her luggage in the trunk she got into her car. she decided to text Diego telling him she had left and thanking him. After that she drove off, having in mind that was probably the last time she might see them cause she had no aim of coming back there again.

The ride back to Michigan was a three hour ride, Michelle stopped half way to get breakfast and gas. She continued her journey. After a long drive she finally arrived at Michigan. Then she drove to the lodge where she stayed. Last semester she managed to convince her father to get her a personal lodge so she didn't have to share with Sasha.

Michelle collapsed her bed. She was alone now,she needed to get a job cause she just cut her family off.

As she was thinking of what she was gonna do,she got a call. it was from Diego.

"Hey" she said

"Unbelievable!!" she heard

"what's wrong" she asked, surprised at the tone.

"It's that how you say goodbye,I thought we've reached friendship stage" he said.

Michelle couldn't help smiling.

"Sorry,I was kinda broken down. I didn't have time to say goodbye"

"Don't care." his voice nonchalant."You settled yet?"

"I guess so" She answered.

"Perfect, I'm gonna come drag you for dinner in a while. I have something to finish "he told her.

"Are you kidding, it's a three hour drive to get here" She told him.

He scoffed

"Who said I was driving " with that he hung up. Michelle stared at the phone in silence and surprise.She shook her head.

'This guy it's nuts ' she said to herself and proceeded to put her things aside.

Diego 's P.O.V

Diego wasn't an ordinary guy,well to some like Michelle and her family,he was just a random ordinary guy. But to those closest to him,Diego was a well feared Mafia boss. He ran the mist notorious criminal in mind in the US. And he was known beyond that. His business spread down to Russia,Italy,France and Spain. Right now,he was dealing with an Assassin sent from st.peter'sburg in Russia to kill him.He just got off the phone with Michele.

"So you gonna tell me who sent you, Roger"

The assassin who was tied to a chair and looking all bloodied,looked up.The fear in him could be seen in his eyes.

"How....how, did.. you ...know ..my ... name" he stammered

"I know a lot more than that Roger, I know you have two daughters who are in high school, your wife runs a local Italian restaurant and you have a brother who got suspended from the navy. He stays with you now".

"Stay away from my family you bastard" Roger screamed trying to kick at him.

" I will but only if you tell me who sent you and don't worry, they won't find out. And I can pull a few strings and get your brother back into the navy. I could even get him promoted." Diego smirked at him.

"Do you promise to spare me an my family. And we won't be harmed"

"You have my word and protection"

Roger sighed heavily

"it's Santiago"

"Any reason behind that?"

Roger shook his head.

"I have no idea"

Diego nodded

"Thanks for cooperating Roger,I'll keep my promise." He nodded at his Men and they released Roger.

"Get him back to Russia secretly and tell Magnus it's time to return the favor. Plus make sure no one harms Roger's family "

With that he went to take his plane to Michigan for his dinner with Michelle.
