Chapter 2 Dylan whistled cheerfully along with the music playing on the radio as he mixed ingredients in the kitchen. He had been awake since three in the morning, but the euphoria from the date was uplifting his spirit. He slaved away until around nine o’clock without a spare moment to take a breather. He did not make enough money to hire a full-time employee, so he often had to resort to hiring a seasonal employee instead. Unfortunately, business was down this year. Consequently, he had to bake everything himself, display them all in the cabinets and glass cases, serve the breakfast crowd, and make sure that nothing went wrong in the ovens while he was busy in the front of the bakery.
