His lips curved into a slow smirk as he looked up at me.
“It’s funny,” he said lightly, almost amused. “It’s really funny that you would say that.”
I frowned. “Why?”
“Because,” he said, stepping closer, “the same contract clearly states that you are to obey me and follow my preferences as long as I do not do anything extreme. Wait, hold on. Did you actually go through the contract or you just read the parts that favored you?”
His words made my jaw tighten. He wasn’t smiling anymore. The air in the room changed. It felt heavier and more serious.
The smirk on his face was gone completely and looked at me in a way that made my breath catch.
“You are my woman,” he said quietly, firmly. “My woman. And until this deal is over, you follow my orders.”
