After what felt like hours of running, we finally reached the location of the artifact. It was buried deep within a temple, hidden behind traps and puzzles that had protected it for centuries. Sebastian and Amelia worked quickly, their knowledge of ancient civilizations guiding them as they navigated the deadly mechanisms.
Finally, we reached the inner sanctum. The artifact was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was a small, glowing orb, pulsing with an otherworldly energy. Sebastian reached out to take it, but Amelia stopped him.
“Wait,” she said, her voice filled with caution. “We don’t know what this thing is capable of. We can’t just touch it without knowing the consequences.”
But it was too late. Sebastian had already made contact with the orb, and as soon as he did, the entire temple began to shake. The walls started to close in on us, and I knew we had to act fast.
“Grab it and let’s go!” I yelled, grabbing the orb and shoving it into a bag.
We ran back through the temple, the walls closing in behind us. We barely made it out alive, the entrance collapsing just as we emerged into the fresh air.
But we didn’t have time to catch our breath. Mystic Maze and his men were waiting for us, and this time, they weren’t going to let us get away so easily.
