Chapter 4: The Explosion We fought our way back to the city, the artifact secure in our possession. But as soon as we arrived at the laboratory, the orb began to glow even brighter. The scientists were ecstatic, eager to study it and unlock its secrets. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. The energy emanating from the orb was growing stronger by the minute, and I could feel it calling to me, as if it had a power that only I could harness. And then, without warning, the orb exploded. The force of the blast sent me flying across the room, and everything went black. When I came to, I was disoriented. The lab was in ruins, and the scientists were frantically trying to assess the damage. But I didn’t care about any of that. I could feel something inside me, something powerful. I looked down at my hands, and they were glowing. The energy from the orb had mixed with my DNA, and I could feel it coursing through my veins. I had been given superhuman powers. I was no longer just James Taya. I was The Master, a being with abilities beyond anything I could have imagined.
