The sound of bells chimes from behind closed doors. In the mirror, I see a reflection of myself. Someone who is curled in pure white. White that signifies purity. I’m not pure. I’m dark, my soul swims in the low pools of scum. My mother will think of me as scum, she’s said it before. What will make her stop now? Being her daughter means nothing if I come out to her with the truth. I need to come out with the truth. The truth will cleanse me of this burden.
