ELARA'S POV “Elara” “Elara” “Can you hear me. Hey. Elara.” I heard a voice calling my name from the light. Am I dead yet? “Elara!” The voice became louder and drew me back to consciousness. I sat up slowly, I was in a different room and sitting right in front of me was Kael. “What the hell happened?” I asked rubbing my eyes. My head felt heavy and my chest hurt badly. I think I'm going to be sick. “I should be asking you that,” He adjusted his stance and looked at me. “There was turbulence in the pack house and I came to check in on you, only to see you passed out. So tell me—what happened.” “I—I don't know.” I said rubbing my temple. Then images of last night flashed through my mind. “Oh yeah, now I remember. I heard someone calling my name or something like that” I muttered more to myself than to him. “Someone called you?” “Yeah and it was really weird cause there was no one in the room” “Did you lock the door like I asked you to?” “Yes I did.” “So where did the voice come from?” “Look I don't know. The moon or some creep I guess. I was having a freaking panic attack, I couldn't breathe and my heart felt clogged. So quit asking me all these unnerving questions!” I almost screamed at him. “I—I’m sorry” he said, looking away. “Wait—what?” I turned to look at him. “You're apologizing?” “There's a first time to everything. Don't read too much into it.” I blinked profusely and tried to stand up. But my legs didn't get the memo and I dropped immediately. “Ouch.” I turned to him staring out the window absentmindedly. “Uhm, a little help here would be nice.” But he ignored me! Seriously what is wrong with this dude. “Would you be certain to say the moon was the one who called your name.” “Maybe if a certain someone would help me up, then I can answer his questions” He scoffed, turned to me and stretched out his hand to me. “Are you happy now.” I looked at outstretched hand. And then at him. “No thank you, I think I'm fine this way” “Okay then. Suit yourself.” Silence. I took a deep breath and tried getting up again. This time my legs cooperated and I quickly sat on the bed. Heaving a sigh of relief as I lay down and stared at the ceiling. I noticed for the first time that I wasn't in any room I knew. I turned my head scan the room. It was bigger than the one I stayed in. Like way bigger. Maybe a master bedroom size. Beautifully adorned with golden emblems on the walls. Like royalty or something. Wait. I looked back at Kael. “Is this your room?” He didn't respond immediately, but he eventually turned and gave me a tired look. “Yes, yes it is” “And I'm in it!” I sat up quickly. And I immediately regretted that. “Well you're my responsibility now, so accept it” I felt awkward. You know the captor and captive tension in a dark romance novel. I'm just overthinking things right now. “You haven't answered my question Elara?” He asked. “And you haven't shown the due hospitality for me to answer that question.” He shot me a look that ranged from disbelief to how-did-I-end-up-with-this-lunatic. “Elara we are talking about a situation of life and death, could you please answer my question!” He questioned. This time his voice sounded a lot more serious. “I'm not certain it was the moon, look it was a lot for me okay. I was having an attack. I couldn't concentrate, all I know is that someone from somewhere called my name twice before anything went down”. “And how did you feel before the call?” “Uhm. My chest felt warm. Like really warm. But my head was a contrast to it.” “Okay. Anything else?” “My breathing started coming out in short raps, from then on I couldn't control what happened and passed out” “Okay.” More silence. “How are you feeling now?” He asked me, and his tone sounded soft. “I'm better. Still in pain but I should be fine soon” “Okay.” He paused. “Would you like something to eat.” “Yes. Yes I would.” “Okay.” He replied, got up and headed towards the door. “The bathroom's on the right end of the room. Clean up. And I'll have someone bring you a change of clothes and your meal.” “Oh okay. Thank you,” I said softly. I wasn't expecting his kindness. “Oh also. That cup of herbs by your side. Drink it up if you want to regain your strength again.” I looked to my side and saw a small clear cup of herbal tea. That still had herbs in them. Just as he said. I've never been a fan of herbs. I sat up and picked the cup. Sniffing it a bit. Ugh. It smelt horrible. “I can't drink this.” I scrunched my nose while talking to him. “Well then. You're not ready to walk again.” He smirked and walked out. That little sucker! I looked at the cup and then the door. What if he was trying to poison me. Quickly getting rid of his problem. I thought about it for a little over a minute. And decided to drink it anyway. “To life or death.” I cheered myself and gulped it down. Surprisingly it tasted okay. Not bitter. Not strange. Just okay. I lay down for a bit, closing my eyes and allowing the herbs take effect. I felt relieved. Almost like all the pain in my body was fading away. Then a knock came at the door. “Come in” The same lady who served me food before. “Oh hey. It's you again.” I sat up fully this time and dropped my legs to the floor. I really did have my energy back. “Don't get used to it.” She sneered and dropped the food. “I guess everyone's in a bad mood tonight,” I said examining the food. I was starving, don't judge me. She shot me a look that said don't test me, before speaking “The alpha said I should inform you to be ready in a few minutes and head to the council room. He will be waiting.” “Wait alpha. You mean Kael?” “Yes I mean Alpha Kael” she said and turned to the door. Slamming it shut. Well that is as rude. I ate quietly, afterwards cleaned up. I didn't notice the spare clothes she dropped when leaving the room. I picked it up anyways and got dressed. They were perfectly my size. Stepping out of the room. I took a breath of the cold night air. Maybe life here wasn't so bad at all. But I spoke too soon. A sharp noise passed through my ears. Causing me to stumble to my feet. I pressed my hands against my ears. “f**k!!!!” I screamed in agony, as it continued to sound in my ears. Then I started hearing voices somewhere in the mix of the noise. “Elara. Come home.” “Awaken Elara.” “Lost blood. Awaken.” “Regain your strength.“ “Please make it stop!” I cried out, holding my head and thrashing on the ground. “Please!” In the next minute, everywhere became white. And I was standing in the middle of—nowhere?
