A Love Story That Defies Time By Santhosh Vishwamitra --- Chapter 17: A Promise in the Rain The first raindrop fell just as Meera and Aarav stepped out of the café, their fingers entwined. By the time they reached the quiet streets, the sky had burst open, pouring its heart out like a lover confessing after too many years of silence. Meera squealed as the cold droplets hit her skin, but Aarav only smiled, his gaze fixed on her. "You hate getting wet," he teased. "Not tonight," she whispered, tilting her face up to the rain. Aarav watched her, mesmerized. There was something about the way the streetlights reflected in her eyes, the way her hair clung to her skin, the way she looked at him as if he was the only person in the world. He had loved her for so long. Through distance. Through doubt. Through heartbreak. And now, she was finally his. Or maybe… he was finally hers. --- Aarav took a step closer, raindrops sliding down his face. "Meera," he murmured. She turned to him, her lips slightly parted. "If I asked you to marry me right now," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, "would you say yes?" Meera’s breath caught. Not because she hadn’t thought about it. But because she had. For the longest time, she had been afraid of love, of commitment, of letting someone in completely. But standing there, soaked in the rain, with Aarav’s eyes burning into hers, she felt something she hadn’t in a long time—certainty. She reached for his face, cupping it in her trembling hands. "I would," she whispered. "I would say yes." Aarav let out a soft laugh, his forehead pressing against hers. "Then say it," he said, his voice raw, desperate. Meera smiled through the tears and the rain. "Yes, Aarav. A thousand times, yes." Aarav pulled her into his arms, spinning her in the rain, laughter echoing through the empty street. He kissed her—deeply, fiercely, like he had been waiting for this moment forever. And maybe, in a way, he had. —Santhosh Vishwamitra --- Next Chapter: When the Stars Fell in Love "Every love story has an ending. But some endings… are just another way of saying forever."
