Almost Perfect

16 - Romeo and Juliet

I'm staring at my phone, it's my new habit now. Sam still didn't reply to me, and I was hesitant to text Kevin.

"What's bothering you?" I looked at Chadd. I shook my head at him and smiled. "I know there is, I know you"

"Sam still doesn't answer the text or even my call" I pout and just focus on the window. I will not mention Kevin, maybe next time. I don't know, but someone inside of me is stopping me from telling Chadd.

"Did you know her house? We can go there if you want"

I shook my head before answering "No"

Chadd just focused on driving and I looked out the window or on my cellphone.

The class ended last week. We are not required to go in school now but still some teacher need our attendance even if it's just an event this week because that is our last activity for another subject and project for another subject.

When we arrived at the school, Chadd did not let me down at the main gate, he just continued until the parking lot, so I looked at him. I just didn't say a word until he was able to park.

I removed my seat belt and got out of the car. When I got out of the car, I adjusted the clothes I was wearing. I wore dress and two inch heels. I didn't do anything in my face except liptint.

"Are you good?" I looked at Chadd and nodded "Lets go" I just followed him on the walk.

"Where are you assigned now?" I asked Chadd. He turned to me. He slowly slowed down when he noticed that I was almost running just to follow him.

"We have a game now. They don't assign me anywhere, they just say I'll take care of it if I want to help when I have free time"

I frowned "Spoiled" I whispered, but he seemed to hear because he suddenly stopped walking.

"Me?" He pointed to himself so I smiled. No doubt he heard what I said.

I just shook my head and passed him. I felt him staring at me in astonishment as I walked away.

It didn't take long for me to feel that he was behind me, so I faced him, but it seemed like a wrong move. The closeness of his face to mine. I can kiss him any moment if I move our face is apart like two inches. My eyes blinked and slowly backed away. Kevin smiled at my reaction.

He would have spoken when Chadd pulled me behind, so he cut his word. Chadd hid me from Kevin. A few minutes later the three of us were in that same position. I hear nothing of the two of them. I also notice that the students passing by are whispering and talking to us.

"Captain" I turned to someone who called Chadd. I smiled at him and waved. He also smiled at me "What's going on here" he whispered to me "Your brother ignored me, did he hear me"

"He heard you but I also do not know what is happening" I whispered back to him.

He just nodded and mediated between the two. He pushed the two so that he could insert himselft in the middle. I approached Chadd and hugged his arm. I just noticed the intensity then staring at each other, that's why other people looked at us like that.

Chadd looked at me and sighed. When I looked at Llewelyn, he was the one now staring at Kevin. I sighed before I touched the end of Llewelyn's sleeve to get his attention.

Kevin turned to me at the same time "Lets go" I said to Llewelyn, so he looked at Chadd and me. I also saw out of the corner of my eye that Kevin was also looking at me like he was telling me not to leave.

I pulled the two to the end of their sleeves. Its good that they let me do that otherwise I might not have been able to pull them. I mediated between the two. They just walked seriously until we got to the elevator.

I said goodbye to them. Llewelyn waved at me while Chadd kissed me on my forehead. I waited for the elevator to close before turning around and walking to my room.

Only now will they tell us where they assign us. We decided to meet in our room because it will be difficult if we still find each other in the field just to sign the attendance.

After our meeting I took out my phone and texted Chadd. He told me earlier before we left the house that I would tell him where I was assigned so that he could visit me anytime even if he did not tell me.

'I was assigned to the theater'

'Really?'

Did he think I was lying 'Yup. We're heading there '

'With whom?'

'My classmate'

'Ok. I will pick you up there later' I just nodded at what he said even though I know he did not see me. I immediately hid my cellphone and followed my classmates who were also assigned to the theater.

When we arrived at the theater I was amazed at the size. I also saw on the wall with a notice that its capacity is 3K people. The stage is big, and it's just nice, the theme is black and white.

The assigned leader called us, so we all went up on stage. I don't know this feeling, but I feel like I want to perform here. I have no talent and I know I will not be chosen to perform in our play, I'm just a transferee.

Our leader took the paper out of his bag and gave it to some students. When the leader given us at the same time with girl beside me, we looked at each other before taking it.

"Don't open it yet" said our leader, so we closed the paper together and laughed softly. I didn't even read a single word.

I also noticed that the color of the transparent folder on my paper was different, so it make me more curious to read to know what is this.

"Ok. To those I did not give a script come to me" I looked at her with shaking eyes before looking at my hand. Is this a script? Script of what?

My classmates who did not receive the script stood up and approached her. She took some small papers from her bag and let them chose there.

"In the roles you got go there now and you will know what will your task, if you want to exchange with someone you can do it" after that they left, and we only had a script left, so she signal us to come closer.

"Listen. The one who chooses you and the character what you guys will role is our arts teacher" we nodded at what she said "That's mean you pointed out. If you don't want to you can refuse but in the next few days you can not specially if we already practice and the when our stylish already measure you for the customes, so is there someone who don't want to act?" we looked at each others. No one raised a hand so that's mean everyone wants. I looked at my script and at the front I felt like I wanted to take back what I said earlier that I wanted to perform here.

I raised my hand, so she called me "I noticed that the color of my transparent folder is different" she smiled foolishly as if she was expecting me to ask her.

"Good observation. Open the script now, and you will see your role on the first page" I opened mine and I was shocked while looking at her. "Yes, you are the first lead" my classmates applauded.

"If I'm the Juliet. Who is Romeo?" I ask.

"The one who has the same color as yours" I looked at my classmates' hands again, they did that too.

"It's just me" I said.

"Oww. I forgot to tell all of you that this stage is collaboration with another section" I looked at the entrance when I heard the door open, I also looked back at our leader when she started speaking "We got the sife of Juliet, so if you noticed all your roles its only had a connection with Juliet" that's why we were only given a little script.

"I'm sorry if we were late. Have you been here long? We do all in our room like we were already given each role that's why were late" we all looked at her who looked like she was the leader of the section we were collabed.

"We just arrived, so don't think about it" the leader of the other section seemed to be relief. My classmates went to the back to give space to the newcomers, so they left me in front. I would have go to the back when our leader called me.

"Audrey was chosen by our teacher for Juliet" she pulled me closer to them. I smile at them. Their leader smiled at me.

"Nice. Its look like a good chemistry with our Romeo" she looked back "but he didn't seem to like it. Earlier he said he was not interested" I looked at the folders they were holding, and I saw the folder like mine, so I looked up to see who is my Romeo.

I stared in shock at him. He also surprised. He looked at the script I was holding and smirked he knew what the colors meant.

"Count me in" he said to his leader, so she raised an eyebrow to him.

"I thought you didn't want to--" she suddenly looked at me, so I looked at her too confused. She nodded "Ok" she smile at us, I don't like that smile.

"Ayieeeeeee" my classmates and his classmates were teasing us. We just stared at them.

I'm sorry I asked for this. This will be my first time performing in stage then I also got the main character and Kevin is the Romeo. Isn't that awkward? Won't this fail?

I sighed. I have to tell Chadd. I don't know what is happening between the two of them but I know that its not a good sign. I also don't know if Chadd will allow me to do this especially since I know Kevin and him have a bad connection. If Chadd don't allow me, I can't do anything about it.
