I was just dumbfounded at the front. I am not listening. I just wish I was listening to our professor. I'm not in the mood today. I really feel like they are hiding something from me. Especially Chadd. I sighed for the nth time. I already lost my count for how many I did that.
I looked at Sam as she poked me. She looked to the front, so I looked at that too. I swallowed my saliva when I saw our professor staring at me. I also looked around. Almost all of my classmates are looking at me.
I sighed and stood up "I'm sorry" I looked at him in the eye. He just nodded and then looked at me deeply.
"What is Biogenesis" he crossed his arms while looking at me. I looked at Sam. She gestured that she did not know.
"Sir--" I couldn't continue what I was going to say when he cut it.
"We are waiting, Ms." He said in very authority voice.
I frowned and just answered his question "The emergence of life forms emerging from non-living chemical systems. In contrast to spontaneous generation, biogenesis is not a process that biologists think continues in a particular environment, such as a planet or moon, once a living system has emerged".
He raised an eyebrow at me. He looked at me from top to bottom. "Who is Sagan, Carl"
I sighed and looked him in the eye again "American astronomer and astrochemist, born in Brooklyn, New York (1934-1996). Sagan was a pioneer in astrobiology, and championed the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI). He was also a prolific researcher: He was key in the determination of Venus's high surface temperature, was an early proponent of oceans on Titan and Europa, and studied planetary atmospheres. He is best remembered for hosting the TV series Cosmos and for writing a widely popular companion book by the same name".
He smiled. He pointed to me with one hand before returning to being a cross arm. "Schrödinger, Erwin"
"Austrian physicist instrumental in the development of quantum theory and for his known for the Schrödinger equation. 1933 Nobel Prize winner for the discovery of new productive forms of atomic theory."
"Skou, Jens Christian"
"Danish medical doctor born in Lemvig, Denmark (1918-). Skou's early work in local anesthetics led him to investigate the sodium-potassium pump. In 1997, Skou was awarded a Nobel Prize for his work on cation transport across cell membranes."
He approached me while smiling. Sam held my hand. Is she cheering me or is she saying that he backing me up, and she is ready to attack.
"I like you." He said while smiling when he approached me. "I like those students, reading the lesson in advance" we all looked at the bell when it rang signaling that our first sub was over "take note of what she said earlier. We will encounter all the names that I asked her in our lesson" he left after saying that.
My classmates were making noise. They can't believe I did that and I answered. I was just smiling. I really hate attention like this.
One by one our classmates go out. The next subject is in the laboratory, so we need to go there. We went to Sam's locker room together. We also finished getting dressed at the same time. While waiting for our professor, I stared at Sam. She just enjoys playing with the reagent bottles.
She noticed that I was looking, so she looked at me. We stared at each other for a few seconds. She sighed and averted her eyes to me to get a paper and pen to write.
'Why?'
I sighed. I know that there is something wrong. I returned the paper to her and sighed. "Earlier I noticed that you do not speak until now. Is there a problem?"
She wrote again on paper. I just watched her until she finished. I immediately read what she wrote 'nothing' and I frowned. She smiled as if she is trying to get me annoyed.
I looked around. The seats are by two, and we were quite far away. "You can tell me now. I'm listening" I pointed to her what I noticed "the chairs are far away, no one can hear you aside from me".
She sighed and looked at me before writing on the paper. She gave it to me upside down. She bowed before I read that. I took that 'I lost my voice'.
I stared at her curiously. She only raised her head for a few seconds to look at my reaction. Did she lose her voice? Why? How? When?
I smiled as I remembered how much she shouted last night in court. I covered my face. When I open my eyes I looked at her. I smiled evilly "Why?" She stared at me "Let shout so loud again later." she quickly turned to me and frowned at me, so I just laughed at her again.
Our professor arrived shortly after. We did nothing but listen. He discussed little by little about the basics like what are wear called, what we wear, why our gown or uniform in lab is white, what the bottles are in front of us and how to use them, and so on.
After the lab we went straight to the locker again. We are already dressed in uniform. I finished first so I waited for Sam. When she came out, I invited her to go to the canteen. I'm already hungry. We have an early break time of 15 mins. Sir dismiss us earlier than the normal hour.
I ordered a slice of cake again, milk tea, pizza and carbonara. Sam ordered a burger, carbonara and milk tea. While eating, I could not help but look at her. Only her between two of us can answer my question.
She noticed that I was not eating, so she looked at me. She caught me staring at her. 'Why?' Her mouth opened and said that but I heard no voice. I understood what she said.
"What happened when I came home?" She let go of her spoon and looked at me badly.
"I don't really want to talk now. I don't have a voice" she forced himself to speak. I'm trying not to laugh, I was just holding back "My hand will hurt during the length of my long story if I will write it and maybe the next subject will catch up before I finished. I'm hungry. I want to eat my food" I really couldn't stop my laughter when she was crooked in the end, so I received another stared from her.
"All right, next time or later tell me about it. Let's eat first" I said laughing.
She looked at me first before she ate again. I lost my smile after her gazed at me. I'm really curious who's that man. It looks like I saw him somewhere but I don't remember. Curiosity killing me right now.
