Prologue

From the moment I saw him, I knew my life would never be the same again. He wasn't my fated mate. Still, there was this strong invisible force that was pulling me to him. I knew who he was. His alpha aura gave him right away. It wasn't his position that was pulling me to him, though. I didn't give two sh*ts about that. It was something else. Maybe his confidence and... capability? He looked like he could do everything he put his mind to. As if no force in this world can stop him. He emerged from the gym wearing a hoodie on his head. He was telling something funny to his friends, laughing. His laughter was deep, and Goddess, he looked awesome with that smile. He was the most handsome man I've ever seen. Too bad he wasn't mine. Another guy stepped out of the gym and threw a bag at him. He caught it with ease. His movements were so smooth that it looked like they did it all the time. I smiled at that. And that was the moment his eyes caught me. He looked at me with the same interest I had for him. After a while, he smiled at me. Without another word to his friends, he went in my direction. I prepared myself for our first encounter. I took a deep breath. I really needed it. He was not an ordinary guy, that was clear, and I didn't want to embarrass myself. When he came to a stop in front of the table where I was sitting and drinking my morning coffee, I knew I was right. My life changed forever. He wasn't my mate, but for some unknown reason, I was instantly in love with him. It was love at first sight.
