Learning from the Worst

Slug Muffins

Tandy and others stepped into the cafe shop across town. "Four slug muffins, four grande frog guts, and three bags of M&M's." Tandy said to the cashier pulling out a bag of blood and three gold coins from 6th century B.C.

"Make that four bags of M&M's. Today's my cheat day." Rhett added another gold coin to the pile.

"What about the weirdos?" The cashier asked motioning toward Lena, Cameron, and Tyler.

"They would like four medium lattes, make one to go, and four slug muffins, but no slugs." Pepper ordered for the humans putting up a ten dollar bill.

"Wait?" Tyler stepped forward, "You guys literally ordered slugs and frog guts to eat-"

"You don't eat frog guts you drink them." Siren interrupted.

"Exactly! You eat or drink frog guts and slugs and we are weirdos?"

"Cameron's trying to steal some Cheetos," Rhett motioned toward Cameron who dropped the third bag of Cheetos she was trying to lift. 

"I- no- you-ugh fine you caught me!" Cameron put the three bags of Cheetos up and five packets of Oreo's on the counter.

"Lena flipped off everyone that walked by us on our way here." Rhett continued.

"I'm not going to deny it because I was proud of it." Lena looked at Cameron at the last part.

"And you pick pocketed someone's phone on the way here and have been trying to hack into our phone that Lisa gave us to try and tell her that you passed your training and are going to go back home."

"How-how did you know?" Tyler asked stunned.

"I'm an alien, it comes with perks."

"Eight slug muffins, four without slugs, four medium lattes, four grande frog guts, and four bags of M&M's." The cashier yelled.

"Wanda you don't have to yell we are the only ones here." Tandy picked up the tray from Wanda.

"OKAY!" Wanda screamed louder.

Tandy sat down at booth and pulled out her slug muffin and started nibbling on it. Everyone ate in silence.

"Pepper?" Tandy said to Pepper making her look up from her frog guts. "Why'd you show Jared the time we.... you know...." Tandy moved her hand over her throat motioning that they killed them.

"I figured if I showed him that we weren't innocent either, it would show him that he's not alone and everyone makes mistakes. But before I could show him what happened after we you know.... killed the men... his brain started to fry and I had to take him out."

Everyone fell back into eating in silence.

Cameron was the one to break the silence. "You know these muffins are amazing!" Cameron said grabbing an another muffin from the tray.

Tandy shared a worried glance with Rhett, "Cameron.... you just ate a slug muffin."

Cameron swallowed the bite slowly, "You know it wasn't that bad."

"You say that now, but you're mortal body will hate you for it later." Siren jumped up throwing away everything on the table. "Let's get you home now!"
