Seraphina / The rough fabric of the servant’s tunic chafed against my skin which served as a constant reminder of the position I held in my home. I was the first daughter and former Crown Princess of Crimson Pack but was quickly reduced to a maid in my own father’s house with my omega status and my dad’s remarriage. To him, I was worthless and was only ever useful when I did as he instructed. He had orchestrated my infiltration of Silver Moon pack reminding me that I was a stain on our pack’s honor and that the only way to redeem myself was to live my life for his benefit and that of the pack’s. His words rang persistently in my ears, “ Seduce Alpha Aslan and marry him.” I heard my name from a distance. It was faint yet audible. “ My Lady? My Lady,” my lady-in-waiting shook me. “ What were you thinking of that you got lost in thoughts?” “ I’m sorry,” I apologized. “ It’s not about apologizing. Today is supposed to be a happy day for you so why do you look so depressed? It’s not like anyone forced you to get married to His Majesty,” she touched up my makeup. That’s right, I was getting married to Alpha Aslan tonight. I really was happy but I was worried. “ I was just a bit bothered by how everyone would take our marriage,” I lied. “ This again? Everyone has already come to accept it whether they like it or not, seeing how much Alpha Aslan was determined to marry you so don’t think too much about it,” she cheered me up. “ All that matters is how you two feel about each other.” “ Thank you,” I appreciated her effort to make me less worried. I had come here about over a year back on my father’s command but I had ended up truly falling for Aslan. He was everything my father was not - kind, compassionate, with eyes that held depth I’d never seen before. We eventually fell for each other and despite how it was unsightly for an Alpha to marry a maid, he chose me. I felt loved for the first time in a long time “ It’s time for you to make your appearance, My Lady,” Sasha beemed. I got to my feet and took one last glance at the full body mirror. I looked stunning in white. “ You look gorgeous, My Lady,” Sasha complimented me. “ After today, you’ll no longer be ‘ my lady ’ but Her Majesty. I’m so happy for you,” she grinned with teary eyes. Sasha was one of the only maids in the palace which didn’t hate on me for being chosen by Alpha Aslan. “ Thank you for always supporting me,” I hugged her before we headed out. I was announced as I made my way down the stairs with my personal maids following behind. I felt like an actual princess today and just seeing Aslan waiting for me at the foot of the stairs made my heart raced. The nobles present looked at me with belittling eyes, others with indifference and some with no care. Tonight, I would be his Luna and would be free from my family yet I was bothered by the fact that I was hiding my true identity from him. How would he feel if he were to find out who I am? Would he be disappointed? Would he not love me again? I clenched the skirt of my gown in anxiety. “ I would tell him today after our mating ceremony,” I had made up my mind. “ You look beautiful as ever, Sera,” Aslan complimented me once I reached the foot of the stairs. I blushed. “ Thank you. You look handsome as well,” I returned the compliment awkwardly. “ We don’t want to keep everyone waiting,” he whispered into my ears before taking my hand in his and walking to the raised platform in that banquet hall. Aslan and I stood before the priest who was to conduct the mating ceremony, I was nervous and excited. I said my vows to Aslan and just as Aslan was about to say his, his right-hand man approached us and climbing the raised platform, he whispered something in Aslan’s ears. The smile that was once on his face quickly faded. His hands which had been holding mine so tenderly let go of me instantaneously. “ W-what’s going on?” I asked in a shaky voice as he stared at me coldly. Mumbles erupted from the crowd as chaos brewed. “ You lied to me,” he growled, his voice laced with hurt and betrayal. “ You’re Caius’s daughter, aren’t you?” My heart plummeted to my stomach. How did he know? I opened my mouth to explain, to bed for his understanding but the words got caught in my throat. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision. I knew my father had made many enemies given his attitude and I was well aware that no one liked my father here. “ Aslan, please,” I choked on my own tears, my voice trembling. “ I was going to tell you. I didn’t mean for you to find out like this,” I clutched his suit begging him. “ I don’t want to hear another lie from you,” he was furious. “ You must have been sent here by your father. What is it that you planned to achieve?” “ I swear, it’s not like that, Aslan. I really do love you,” I cried. “ Love?” He sneered, his lip curling in disgust. “ You dare speak of love? There’s no way you weren’t sent here by your father to deceive me. Why didn’t I do a background check on you?” He muttered in disappointment. “ Aslan, please believe me,” I cried harder. How had things ended this way? “ I, Alpha Aslan of Silver Moon pack reject you as my mate,” he mercilessly rejected me. “ You can’t do this to me,” I mumbled as I crumbled to my knees. I had given him all of me - my love, my first time, my everything yet he was unwilling to listen to me. He didn’t want to see the pain in my eyes. He just wanted me gone. “Guards!” he roared, his voice echoing through the hall. “Take her away!” Two heavily built guards grabbed me by the arms, pulling me away. I didn’t reach out, I didn’t struggle, I didn’t scream. I simply stared at nowhere in particular lost in the chaos of everything. Yes, it’s my fault. It’s my fault for ever believing that maybe someone like me deserved happiness and could escape my past. I should have known better what my fate was.
