Chapter Five

Guess what? I had the dream again, note the sarcasm in that? It always happens so there's no point in even mentioning it anymore. It was six thirty in the morning when I came out of the shower. I walked over to the window and pulled the curtain closed, the best place to start! I dried myself off and walked over to my wardrobe pulling out a white baggy top that exposed my shoulders, so basically is hung loosely on them. It was plain white and thin. I reached in again and pulled out my baggy black jeans to go with it. The same trainers as usual. I grabbed my bag and walked out of the door faster than normal. I walked to school feeling the wind blow through my hair but halfway there I stopped and looked up at the sky to see a dark bloodline across it. What the f**k!?! It wasn't one of those normal blending colors you see when you go abroad, no way! This was a deep red and it looked like a line cutting the sky in half. Ok for the first time something freaked the crap out of me! That's never happened here and it can't happen anywhere else! It's imposable! Yay! I can be freaked out! Ok, not the right time to be jumping up and down. I kept walking but I came to a stop again, something in me couldn't help but look up again, my eyes wouldn't move from it, I was stuck looking at it. "Hey! Hey! Brie!" the only thing that pulled me away from looking at it was someone placing their hand on my shoulder. I turned to look at her, Candice. How long was I standing here looking at it? "Fancy seeing you here, you're always at school earlier then everyone put together.......so what you doin......" she stopped halfway as she noticed the sky. "Wow......how the hell did that happen?....... Oh my god end of the world!" she burst out laughing and I gave a small smile, something about that didn't seem so bad. "Scientist always have an answer for everything, I don't give a s**t! Let them figure it out." I smiled again at her looking back up at the sky, but this time when I looked back down at her, her face changed, she wasn't smiling she was looking at me in horror. "Brie you.....you should go home......you're eyes there......" I cut her off, "What?" I asked letting a bit of desperation in at the end of my words. "Here," she said looking through her handbag, she pulled out a small pocket mirror and I looked into it, I almost dropped the mirror, my eyes were......were no longer green, they were.......dark black with a faded red line across them. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I shoved her back the mirror. "it's fine, my sister gave me these eye contacts, cool right? You almost gave me a heart attack!" I said laughing. She gave a small laugh but I could tell I didn't fool her. s**t! s**t! s**t! s**t! What the f**k is going on!?! was all I could think as we got to school. Maybe today isn't the day to ignore James. Nope, I'm going through with it. For the whole day I didn't see him but at lunch when we were walking around the courtyard, there he was, standing in the shadows.....again. that's actually frustrating now. I gave him one look and continued walking with Candice. You couldn't tell it was him with the shadows apart from.........wait the only reason I knew it was him was because he's the only guy I've met in my life that appears in the shadows out of know where, so yeah that's how I knew it was him. Candice was off talking about modeling and well I didn't hear one thing she said. "Ok I've got to split but see you tomorrow?" she nodded and I walked off into the school. It was true I did have to go, I needed to hand my overdue English paper in. "Hi," said a voice from behind me but I already knew who it was, I kept on walking. When I finished handing in the paper, I was closing the door and when I turned to leave I jumped back, he was right there! Inches from me again! I pushed him aside and walked off without looking back at him. I swear I heard him growl, but I just kept on walking. "Why are you ignoring me?" I was outside sitting on the bench trying to not look up at the sky when I felt someone sitting next to me and whispering into my ear. I didn't even look at him; I just kept on looking at my book. The sky was all everyone could talk about today, kinda funny since half the people thought it was the end of the world. And the whole eye thing I pushed to the back of my mind. I don't think I can stand to be freaked out again. The whole day I covered my face with my hair or when someone was in my face a.k.a James, I would close my eyes normal and walk a few steps until they weren't in front of me. But in a situation like this, I just kept my head bowed. "Please answer me?" he asked again, I can't do this anymore, thank god the school bell rang and I got up stuffing my book back into my bag. I was about to throw it on to my shoulder when everything went blurry and I went dizzy. When the dizziness cleared and my vision came back I was standing in the middle of a dead forest. I let my bag drop to the floor and I looked around, my lugs working overtime trying to get breath into them. What the hell just happened? I was standing in the schoolyard a minute ago, right? The next thing I knew someone grabbed hold of my arm and spun me around and finally slammed my back against a tree making me cry out in pain. I looked up at who was pinning me to the tree, James and he was pissed. I looked back down remembering my eyes. "Why are you ignoring me!?!" he screamed again, this time his nose touching mine. "So you hit women now?" I couldn't help but blurt out shakily. "No, but that was the only way to get the air you needed after the circumstances you got here." Huh? What the f**k is he going on about? How the f**k did I get here? "So why are you ignoring me?" he asked a little bit calmer now, but the anger still touching his words like acid coming from off a blade, where did he get this from? He pressed a little harder on my shoulders and I let it. "Because that's how I feel when you just disappear when you won't explain the wired things you can do that humans can't! When you....just dismiss me like I'm nothing!" I yelled back at him. I couldn't help it. I looked back up at him hoping he could see how upset I was. For some crazed reason, I wanted to be accepted by him. Ok, big mistake showing him my eyes. As I looked at him his eyes changed from pure blue to.......white! With black.....black pupils! I gasped as I saw the change; he let me go and spun around screaming his lungs out. I couldn't talk and I think I was having difficulty breathing. My heart raced harder again against my chest. No.....no one can do that! I was sliding down the tree with my eyes still opened wide when he was in front of me again, his hands resting on either side of me. The anger in his eyes made me fear him more. Something in me told me to run and then he said, "Run!" but being me I did the complete opposite. I pulled myself together and stood firmly up, the look of terror was gone but must have shown in my eyes. I stood looking at him, I wanted to see his eyes again but his head was bowed lowly. He knew I wasn't going anywhere. But when I placed my hand on his shoulder his head snapped up, it all happened too fast. First, I was looking into his eyes for less than a split second and the next I was holding onto his back, screaming and shutting my eyes tight with pain. I felt my skin part and my blood seemed to be forcefully being sucked out. I could feel it leave me and go I don't know where, but I could feel some of it escape and dribble down my neck. I kept screaming out in pain until my knees went weak and I couldn't hold onto him any longer. I let go and fell to the floor. He.....he bi-bit.....me, my eyes began to close and everything went....red, red like a pool of blood. Was I......dying?
