Chapter Five I had only been as far north as North Carolina. We passed through Virginia, Maryland and weaved our way through the mountains’ of Pennsylvania. Our destination was near the Capital of the State, ‘Harrisburg.’ The ‘New Cumberland Receptions Center’ was an Army post that was being set up as an induction center to receive draftees. It was located about five miles outside the City of Harrisburg. As we drove through the main gate, the bus stopped momentarily, and then the MP guards saluted the bus and waved us through. I was once told that this military reservation was one of the largest on the east coast. As far as the eye could see there were barracks.
