At the first station was a sign that directed the inductees to fill out a tag with their name and home address and then attach the tag to the suitcase. They were to strip down to their underwear and they placed the clothing they were wearing into the suitcase. At that point, one of the privates assigned to that area removed the suitcases to an area where the baggage would be sent back to the inductee’s home towns. It had been decided that from this day until the inductees were discharged, they would be required to wear a uniform all of the time.
