My parents have been gone for four years. They were being forced to work for TERROR. I was living with my sister Krystal. We hardly lived in a house. We also kept moving so we’d lessen our chance of being found. I missed my Mom and Dad, I didn’t have much food and I couldn’t get away with anything. Krystal wanted us to stick together, but it was no fun. I wanted freedom. So one day while Krystal was asleep I wrote her a quick note explaining that I was leaving, and I wanted more freedom. I left before she woke up.
It’s been two years since I last saw my sister, two years since I decided to leave. I was now working for Terror, just like Mom and Dad, only I chose this, and they were forced into it. When I first was recruited they were not happy. They didn’t want me to be part of this. I had yelled at them and told them this was my choice. Sometime through all of this they had asked me about Krystal. I started to feel guilty about leaving her. So I simply told them a lie that she’d left me. And then before they could respond I walked away. So when I was told to go and hunt for children so we can reunite them with there parents, they told me that I should also keep an eye out for Krystal. I rolled my eyes but did anyway. I’ve been on the look out for a year now, surprised I haven’t seen Krystal yet.
When I ran into her. Litteraly ran into her. She fell back and seemed pretty surprised to see me. I tried my best to smother my shock. My mind screamed save her, help her. I silenced those thoughts. My job was to capture people. When my wakie-talkie sprung to life, asking about her, Krystal, Im sure what to do, so I decide to tell them. But before I could finish my sentence I was falling in my back. I rolled back onto my feet as quickly as possible, but she was already gone. I looked around, but she was no where to be seen. It was mid day, she should of been easy to spot. I keep spinning around but she was no where. I started walking back to my truck.
“How am I supposed to become first in comand if I can’t do my job?” I mumbled to myself. I am second in command. Which is impressive since I’m only 16 years old, I raised to this position faster then anyone.
One of the reasons I joined was because my girlfriend worked for them. We broke up but I still stayed I couldn’t go back but it was actually fun to work for them, after all I got to make my own decision, I like before. And I didn’t have people bossing me around, I also got three meals a day.
“John.” I hear as soon as I enter the building.
“Yes, commander.” I answer, knowing what will come next.
“Where is the girl?” Since I didn’t know I didn’t respond. She started to turn red in the face.
“You let her get away?”
“I’m sorry. I’ll try harder. But you must understand, she seems to know the streets better then anyone.”
“I don’t care, your job is to find and apprehend her, even if she is your sister. You do know she causes us a lot of trouble, and we need to get her out of the streets before it’s to late, right?
I knew all this but it seemed like a rhetorical question so I didn’t answer.
Kate, first in command dismissed me with a wave of her hand and I know that I had one more chance at least. Another shot at becoming first in command. Another shot at grabbing Krystal and bringing her in. I knew I was close to losing my second in command position. The only way I could get raised to first was by capturing Krystal, that was my main priority.
“I will take you down Krystal.” I muttered under my breath, I was already forming a plan to capture her and it was going to be good.
